techy help needed please- modem probs

a new ISP account seems to be dropping connection, but leaving th modem open, so i cannot reconnect?

using a PAYG dialup works fine, but i dont want to give BT anymore £££..
-that also seems to be using what i thought was a deleted modem setup..

unplug the modem for 30 seconds then reconnect, it might be a problem with the ip address, that should reset it, Or right click on the network icon in the task bar and repair...that the same as unplugging.

Yes try the modem reset [unplug wait re-plug] i sometimes have the same problem with ntl.
For the unused PAYGO, go to settings, control panel,internet options,connections
and delete any internet provider you no longer use.

Sounds like a possible conflict somewhere.

I'd suggest following the advice already given on this thread and if that doesn't work, maybe try removing & re-installing your isp software from scratch.
