Look, this really should be a piece of PISS, and I know you'll all be laughing up your sleeves at my abject ineptitude. But anyway.

All I want to do is transfer a bunch of photos off my SD card from my digital camera. I've done it before by plugging my (old) digital camera into my laptop using a USB cable. But I've got an SD slot in this laptop (which is running Windows XP), and I can view the pictures stored on the card when I SHOVE it in that slot, but I'm twatted if I can actually find a way to simply store those pics to a folder on the laptop.

I know I'm a gimp. I know this should be something a nine year old could do. But at the moment, my brain won't let me. So some kind of step-by-step guide for a flid like me would be triff.

Bed soon, but thanks in advance

Can't you highlight all the pics (thats Apple +A on mine, not sure on a PC) and then just drag them all to a ready made folder ?

Right click on the SD card which should be recognised when you insert it

Copy the contents, then paste

From one technospack to another, download Google Picasa and tick (or whatever it tells you to do) to get all the pictures on your pc to be collated into Picasa. Whenever you put your sd card into the pc it will give you the option to download to there if you have it running.....I think

Is it definitely an SD card - or an SDHC card (which a standard SD reader won't recognise)?

Thanks for the TIPS gents, I will have another little playaround later tonight. Then I'll try to get the pictures onto my laptop.

Its definitely an SD card Wozza. I might try Icy Gulls suggestion, that sounds very workable.

That program is GENIUS Icy, good call fella. I've just sorted all my pics into folders, tidied everything up, and transferred a load from the SD card. Piece of piss with that Picasa, even for a spazzer like me.
