FRUIT OF THE BLOOM
Is there a way of creating pictures off a DVD or blue ray disk ?

A friends wedding pictures were a disaster and wants to know if this is possible.

If you have DVD/Blu-ray player on your PC then it's possible the software used to play the discs can take stills when you pause the action.

The problem with a screen capture is that it's done at screen resolution (72dpi). Most digital printers would consider you'd need at least 200dpi for a decent print, while commercial printing is done at 300dpi.

So yes, it can be done - but the image quality / size might not be that great.

Whack it in any editing software then export as a .tiff or .jpeg.
I do it in premiere pro all the time.

You can take DVD frames (stills) using vlc.Not great quality but you can do it.

You can also advance it 1 frame at a time, so you get the exact still you require.
