Does this kind of nitpicking give you a hard-on or something?

Why do stupid and pointless posts like that give you one ? The plain fact is that wrong information is worse than no information. I've worked in IT for many years and have seen people take incorrect info as gospel which can cause serious problems. I just want anybody I respond to to know what the facts are.

You're still wrong. What you should have said is an ADSL Router/Modem (which is what you normally get these days) cannot be used along side an ADSL modem (the fact that you only have one connection to the line gives that away). You can use an ADSL Modem AND Router in combo as Westdene and I have said.

i'd have thought since there's no such thing as an "ADSL Router", we could have assumed he meant a "ADSL Modem/Router" and simply corrected/highlighted that part.

Good but in truth NSC is not the best place for this sort of thing. Clearly taling to your current ISP or even one you might want to move to is more likely to give you a sensible answer (unless it's Tiscali where you'll be lucky to get an answer of any sort).
