In that case fella I would pop to somewhere local like currys and just start again. With a bit of effort and knowledge you could probably sort it but as LE2 says needs someone to probably help you by looking at it with you rather than a online forum.

Ok gone into add hardware wizard and it says this device cannot start code 10

This is the Official Code 10 error page, but it's rather complicated and may be out of your computer skill set. Still if you think you can accomplish the steps provided it may get you a solution!

If you have a mate with Windows 7 you could try plugging it in there, and see what it identifies it as. Then go and search the web for XP drivers.

That will also test the hardware.

If it's an Acer Aspire One I'd throw it away and buy something else.

Why ? Had mine for years now and no bother at all, does everything I want and more.
