There used to be away where you access the ipod as if it is a usb memory device (my computer > ipod device drive) then go to the folder properties to make all folders visible/show hidden folder and you could click and drag the music folder over to your computer. Not sure that still works, so you need to download a programme from the internet to rip music from the ipod. I'm not sure what they're called, but a google search for "rip music from ipod" would probably provide something, or alternatively wait for someone to post here with the name of the programmes. (There may be an old ipon thread with it on here months and months back).

I know this may seem to sum (probably all) of you a daft question but how do I go about converting songs from my I-pod into I-tunes? I have just bought a laptop and would like to fill the ghostly, empty I-tunes library with the songs on my i-pod.

HELP.:albion2:

Easiest way to do it is to transfer all of the music from your old computer/laptop onto your new one. To transfer from your iPod to the computer you have to download another program, you can't do it via iTunes. Have a search on google (don't have a clue what any of the programs that do this are called)

I have found the program and downloaded it although it states in big scary red letters, "Caution: Don't Lose Your Music!
While connecting your iPod to your computer, be sure to hold down both the Shift + Ctrl keys to prevent iTunes from auto-syncing with your iPod. If you don't do so, iTunes may automatically erase the contents of your iPod.

If I lose my music I will discombobulate and potentially murder someone so when it says the bit I have put in bold is that when I am connecting the i-pod via the usb cable?

If the ipod is set to sync to another computer, you should get an option to sync to this one or not. In which case say no.

Yeah - I've done this. The critical thing is not to let it synch. It should ask when you connect the ipod whether you want to synch it to itunes. Say No at this point. You will then be able to see the files on the Ipod as an external drive. Copy everything to a new folder on your C drive, then disconnect the Ipod. You should then be able to use the "Add folder to library" option in Itunes, to add the new folder. Bobs yer uncle.
