Top of the table Brighton on 16 points name an unchanged team after their latest 0-1 victory for their 7th Championship game of the season. They don't win again for 10 games. 2011. The mantra 'don't change a winning team' does not always work. Mind you - this team did very well to be top in the first place:

Brighton
4-4-2
16 Casper Ankergren
14 Inigo Calderon
3 Gordon Greer
5 Lewis Dunk
22 Marcos Painter
18 Gary Dicker
26 Liam Bridcutt
17 Ryan Harley
11 Craig Noone
9 Ashley Barnes
12 Craig Mackail-Smith

Same side with just one change to replace Lualua.

1) replace like for like March or Murphy.
2) push Baldock wider and bring in Bobby Z from the start.

I think it will be (1) and I would save Bobby Z for 66 minutes.

Who will be the new substitute?

3) Holla for the set pieces
4) Manu cause he looks a good substitute from his record.

Who plays with Greer. My choice would be Dunk for playing the ball out of defence*. But that is not safe. (*Rotherham will try and make up play the long ball game and pick off any mistakes.)

Don't think I'd want any of the above in the current side, with the exception of perhaps Noone while KLL is suspended.

So you'd be going for Uwe and Goldson in defence then?
Is it an NSC thing that you have to clarify the obvious sometimes?

Obviously Greer, as the only player in both teams, would not be dropped.

With hindsight, 5 of those players are league one or below level. KLL & Buckley were benched for that game with Vicente injured.

PLAY YOUR STRONGEST TEAM IN THE LEAGUE WHATEVER THE OPPOSITION! No changes other than enforced ones. Murphy for Lua Lua.

27 man squad

Ankers and Walton unlikely to feature.
Calderon, Crofts and Goldson played last night.
Kaz suspended.
Chicksen, Colunga out of favour.

So it's really 18 from 19 with either Holla or Elvis to miss out on a place on the bench.

It'll tell us a lot about how ready Elvis is, if Holla is picked for the 18.

It's clear to anyone who has watched the teams that have gone up automatically over last few seasons that a settled side is required with minimal changes throughout the season. Only changing when required.

This is possible due to the players we've brought in and more importantly CH knowing that his strongest side will be competitive and has quality players waiting in the wings in case of suspensions and poor form. No one can be blasé about their place in the team, very different to the last couple of seasons.
