Well, putting a callow fullback and a clumsy equine in the middle of defence won't actually improve things will it? It would just be making a point for the sake of it... a point that would be pointless as we got blown away.
Yesterday's back four/five is the best we have available to us, maybe you could make a case for El-Abd coming in for Virgo but that's it.

They are by far the best individuals we have in those positions, and if they continue to play together they could become a very effective backline for the rest of the season (even though it's probably too late).

It is the attitude of 'he didn't look like a world-beater today, let's drop him' that has got us into this mess. We have played a ridiculous number of players in every position. We need/needed some continuity so the players could learn how to play together as a unit.
