I agree with your selection BG. If we don't have a specialist link man to play in the hole, we're better off with an out and out striker. If we're playing 2 up front, then we probably need to shore up the midfield. Stephens and Propper would be ideal.

Will need a team to battle and maybe win a 50/50 down there, so for me:

————————————Ryan——————————————
Bruno————Duffy———————Balogun——————-Bong
————————————Dunk——————————————
———————-Kayal—————-Stephens—————————
Knockaert———————-Murray—————————-Izquierdo

Also... Dear Chris... please, please don’t start your preview interview with the now infamous words “These are a good team...” They clearly are NOT...

Drives me f*cking mad, no other manager in any of the leagues big's up their opposition like CH does.

He said yesterday once we equalised it was a case of staying in the game for as long as possible. I thought that would be the time when Everton were most vulnerable to OUR attack. Love Chris but he does focus on how to stop the other team rather than how to break them down.

Yes, that is a proper 4-4-2, not 4-4-1-1. We are playing Cardiff, not Man city.

No Kayal then ? [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

To be fair, I would be inclined to start like that. It won't happen as andone will be replaced in that line up with Kayal, but I see BGs point.

But we all know that is not hughton's game to play 2,up front and I expect a very cautious approach....and a 1-1 at the best

I must admit I did consider that but eventually thought that Bissouma seems more likjely to get a goal than Kayal so opted for him .

Yeah, it's ages since Kayal scored.

oh.

According to the press last week Gross had suffered a minor setback after resuming training prior to the Newcastle game, he's now not going to be ready until after the November international break.

This is why I said outside chance :)
Its from the injuries thread
Gross [ankle] the Albion website interpretation of Hughton's press conference hasn't "ruled out" Gross appearing at Cardiff.
"Hughton confirmed Pascal Gross remains sidelined and will miss Saturday's match, but is hopeful of having the German back after the international break and hasn't fully ruled him out of returning before then."
Hughton said at the presser ""He's close but he's not back in training yet - he's done some really good rehab."

Any central midfielder from reserves.

Murray has to start, we'll need his physicality at both ends.

Defensively we look best with Knocky and Bruno as a partnership on the right.

March should play left wing away to Cardiff for his defensive qualities and the fact Izzy has looked shaky defensively since coming back.

Ryan...

9 players who will continually back off the ball and invite the opposition into our final third...
