We need to change to formation, seroiusly need some width. We're at home, so:

Harper

Reyes - Greer- Calderon - Painter

Buckley - Bridcutt - Vicente - Noone

Mackail Smith - Paynter

Subs: Ankergren, Dunk, Vincelot, LuaLua, Hoskins.

That's our best 16, but somehow I doubt they'll alll be there.

Whatever the team,it makes you realise what good players we had in seasons 76/77 with promotion from the 3rd division, then narrowly missing out promotion to the old 1st division in 77/78 before going up the next season!
Happy days!

Too attack minded and no strength in the midfield. Who would win the ball and give it to Buckley Noone or Vicente.

i think we should try and sign crouch on loan and get harper to hoof it to noone on the wing - worked well against watford..... simples really.

Harper (GK) Calderon (RB), Greer (CB), Dunk (CB), Painter (LB), Jara Reyes (DM), Bridcutt (DM), Buckley (RW), Lua Lua (LW), Vicente (AMC), Mackail-Smith (STR)

Subs: Ankergren, Vincelot, Harley, Paynter, Agdestein

Noone needs a rest, Barnes has done sod all lately, KLL deserves a chance, and why not give Agdestein a shot?

Because he is nowhere near ready for the first team he would be better served going out on loan to a Div 1 or 2 club.

Assuming Jara Reyes, Bridcutt, Vicente and Buckley are fit, the deffos would be :-

Harper, Jara Reyes, Bridcutt, Vicente and Greer

Vincelot has been consistent whenever he has played and deserves to play somewhere.

CMS may be tiring but having bought Paynter, we have to give the two of them some time together

Barnes is an enigma

Nooney needs a rest and cannot cross the ball.

Lua Lua is not hacking it and also cannot cross the ball.

Buckley, we need to see having a prolonged run out (injuries permitting) as he is fast and can cross the ball.

Midfield is the problem every game. With two internationals (Jara Reyes and Vicente) there, it could provide the platform we need, alongside Buckley out wide and Bridcutt holding.

Painter has improved recently although remains sluggish.

Dunk????? What's going on??

So, my team for Barnsley would be:-

Harper,
Vincelot Greer Calderon Painter
Buckley Bridcutt Jara Reyes Vicente
CMS Paynter

subs:- Ankergren Dunk KLL Barnes Noone

A luxury we cannot afford as we need to be solid in midfield, so one winger as a wide outlet and another on the bench.

but that is how we have played for the last 2 months, something needs to change, we need to change, we need to take the game to them, we are at home for christ sake, high tempo from the start, Buckley and Noone down the wings, Vicente and Bridcut (assuming all fit) in the middle....Paynter and CMS up front. If its not working then make changes.

Subs: Ankergren Barnes Sparrow Vincelot Kazenga

One winger (can switch), lob-sided midfield, Buckley playing B2B midfield, deep defending at times (perhaps pressing in the second half ?)

Or: Taricco, Harley, Navarro

I've never understood why being at home or away can affect your game so much. We should just play our way no matter where or against who. Recognise that quote?

----------Harper-----------
Calderon-Dunk-Greer-Vincelot
------Bridcutt-Reyes-------
-Noone-------------Lua Lua-
------Vicente/Buckley------
-----------CMS-------------

I like the look of that, but I don't expect it to happen. We've not brought Paynter in to sit on the bench, and if we are going 2 wingers, then that is the formation where you do have the big fella in the middle to get on the end of the crosses. I'd drop Buckley into one of the winger roles in place of KLL or Noone, and would expect Paynter to start, so that will be ahead of Vicente who is looking like a bit of a luxury at the moment.

If Buckley isn't fit, and Vicente is, then I would start Vicente on the wing, but with a license to play inside a la Bennett last season.

Agdestein didn't exactly shine for Bath City, nowhere near ready. Would consider Forster-Caskey and Simmons though.
