Sounds poor to me

El Abd is, I believe still injured, Loft is just not good enough, how many more chances does Robinson need to show he is not a striker?

So I would play a back 4 of Virgo Hawkins Lynch Richards. Start with FDM in goal and see how it goes and perhaps give Sullivan 30 mins. Murray and Forster up front to continue to work together and form a better understanding. The midfield is anybodys guess but I would play McLeod to give him more match practice.

If ElAbd is injured, then obviously, don't play him. I'd probably play virgo rightback in that case, too. I wouldn't start with FDM though. His strengths and weaknesses are well known to everyone, there's very little to be gained by playing him. This is the perfect opportunity to give Sullivan a competitive game. We need to know if he's capable of playing at this level. This is the least important game of our season so now's the chance to blood him. If we don't have enough faith in him to play in a tin pot trophy game where it really doesn't matter how we do, what the hell is he doing on our pay role?

Murray and Forster have played enough times together to form a partnership another 90minutes is not essential. What is essential is to find someone who can step in if one of them is unavailable. I would rest Forster for this game as it's more important that he is fresh for the league.

In midfield Livermore should be given a chance to play 90minutes in a competitive match in his favoured position. Loft, too, deserves a chance. He's had good reports on his reserve performances and has been given a few minutes at the end of matches. 5minutes, however, is not long enough to see how he will cope. Give him 90 minutes and see what he does.

For me, the result of this match is not that important. What I'd be looking at (if i were manager) is individual performances. How squad/fringe players react to being given a genuine chance. Is Sullivan capable? How does elabd/virgo perform at rightback? How does lynch do? Can Loft cut it? Can Livermore put in a performance? Can Jake work with Murray? That's what should be important, IMO.

Sullivan

Whing Hawkins Lynch Richards

Robinson Thomson Loft McLeod

Virgo Murray

I think Lynch deserves a game, and it will be good for Adams to see what Sullivan, Robinson, and Loft can do. Plus it gives Forster and Michel (who are likely to be ever-presents in the league) a rest.

Id give Livermore a chance in CM instead of Thomson who I think has deceived many of us for too long.

If players are good enough to be in the squad they are good enough to play in a shitty midweek cup competition.
