[Albion] Team for West Brom

Don’t know why people think Burn will be dropped for Veltman.
Alzate will get his spot back. He was just off the plane last time. And we aren’t going to play a purely defensive midfielder against WBA.
White will replace Dunk.
We will play Connolly and Maupay up front as we are at home to the worst team in the division.
Only real question is whether it us Trossard or Lallana behind them. My guess is Trossard as he is much quicker.

Going to take a punt here at a team I think Potter might pick. Not the one I want but still:

------------------------Ryan-----------------------

-------Veltman----Webster----Burn-----------

Lamptey----White----Bissouma-----March

---------------------Trossard-----------------------

--------------Maupay-----Connolly---------------

The only reservation I have about this team is that it's West Brom, so you could go more attacking.
But I think in terms of man management he'll want to give Veltman a start.
And against Palace, with White as a DM they managed 0 legitimate shots on goal (that's quite the stat).
Maupay needs Connolly for whatever reason (perhaps because Connolly stretches defences, presses quickly, creates space etc.).

The team I want:

--------------------------Ryan-----------------------

------------White-----Webster-----Burn---------

Lamptey-----Bissouma-----Alzate----March

-------------------------Lallana---------------------

----------------Trossard------Maupay-----------

I wish this would work for Maupay.
Sad to drop Veltman. Want to see what he can do.
Also wish there was a way to incorporate Mac Allister. He's more one touch like Lallana. Late runs into box. And of course he's a set piece specialist.
With Mac Allister it would need a different formation I think. Maybe drop March and have 4 at the back?

Ryan
Lamptey, White, Webster, Burn, March
Bissouma, Alzate
Lallana
Trossard, Maupay

Steele, Veltman, Gross, Ali J, Mac Allister, Connolly, Zeqiri/Welbeck

Alireza is out, so I'd stick Molumby on the bench, but I reckon Bernardo is more likely.

You know, watching Potter talk about players, I feel like he's gushing over Welbeck.

Says he's fit (which presumably means match fit).

I think he'll be in the squad for Monday. Legitimately wondering if he'll start.

I'll be amazed if that isn't the starting XI. Burn did nothing wrong against Palace. He was subbed for tactical reasons. The only possible change would be to keep White in midfield and replace Dunk with Veltman but that would be harsh on Alzate.

We have been crying out for an attacking midfielder to play closer to Maupay. I assume thats why Lalana is here so assume he will start in most games

I really think Veltman starts. The guy has huge pedigree at CB in a three and not picking him when an opening has arisen is going to be all wrong from a man management perspective.

Surely Veltman. If not now, then when?

Totally agree - dont understand how a player of his experience and quality is not in the team anyway - poor chap thought he was going to get chosen . He should be in every week . He's versatile position wise too . I'd give Webster a break he makes too many mistakes and he makes them every game as well - Wellbecks not fit so he shouldnt even be on the bench

You want to drop our best central defender since lockdown finished?

I think Potter will go with the normal 3 back with Burn in for Dunk at CB and March at LWB. Personally I'd go:

---------------------------Ryan-----------------------------
---Lamptey---Veltman---Webster---Burn----
--------------------------White-----------------------------
--------------Bissouma------Alzate------------------
--------------------------Lallana---------------------------
-------------Trossard-----------Maupay--------------

I like this set up except I would put in Trossard instead of Maupay. Lallana and Trossard keep feeding the big man up front.

Problem we have is apart from Molumby and Sanders we do not have a natural defensive midfielder. He played White there against Palace and I think because he played well, we restricted there attacks more then any opponent this season. When Alzate or Bisouma play this role both like going forward and we can be left exposed. For this reason although tough on player left out may retain White. Personally I would just play White in midfield against better sides that can break fast.
