How about:

Ryan
Montoya Webster Dunk Burn
Stephens
Gross Trossard March
Maupay Connolly

Button, Schellotto, Duffy, Alzate, Mooy, Propper, Murray

Perhaps a little too lightweight in midfield though.

The best thing about this team selection is Mooy.

He waits for some game time.
Isn't great.
Slowly gets up to speed.
Starts
Eventually plays a blinder
Then costs the team points.
Loses his place.

And now the proper punishment as seemingly there's no way back in.
That's how it should be.

How long should he be kept out until he has served his punishment?
Or should we send him back to Udders? :D:D:D

He has to wait for his next opportunity.
Alzate doesn't seem to be in the mood to just give it too him.
Mooy won't be so keen to lose his starting place, next time.

Win win win, as it should be.

Based on Potter's comments about building up Trossards game time, maybe it's not a given that he will start on Saturday?

This, Trossard played 20 minutes Saturday having been out for 2 months. So however good he was I still expect him to start on the bench again Saturday.

Only change is Mooy comes straight back in, for Propper, although that spoils pissed sponsors MOTM voting.

Difficult to guess so I am happy with the team that Potter selects. In Potter We Trust

5-3-2 - I'm not sure we're good enough defensively to play 4 at the back regularly YET. Alzate is too good to leave out and his attacking quality would really add to our play down the right, which basically stops as soon as our right back needs to get involved. Montoya is ok in a 4-4-2 but doesn't have enough attacking quality as a wing back. He's good at getting into positions but decision making/final ball isn't good enough. Trossard in a free role drifting down the left.

I know I've left Gross out. I'm just not sure we have enough goals in the team to not play 2 strikers at the moment, also hence the 5-3-2 so we have a bit more defensively to accommodate 2 strikers. I'd happily swap Gross for Trossard if he's not fit to start.

..............................Ryan

................Webster Dunk Burn
Alzate............................................March

...................Stephens Propper

.............................Trossard

.................Maupay.....Connelly

It shows how far Brighton have come that groß could be left out, mooy might not come back in and Duffy and Murray are not even mentioned in these discussions.

I can’t be the only one who sometimes this it is all a bit of a dream. This is brilliant isn’t it?

Yes if we beat Norwich, fail to do that and having lots of decent players not starting might be an extra frustrating factor. With a better squad, expectations rightly go up

I can see less of a need for defensive rigidity being at home against a side in the bottom 3. 2 centre backs should be fine against a side who usually only play 1 up front so 4 at the back for me. Also 2 upfront is our most dangerous. Any of 4-4-2, 4-2-2-2 or 4-3-1-2 would be a good combination and as Tettey is deployed as a defensive midfielder utilising Trossard or Gross in a hole could be perfect

Will genuinely be very surprised if Gross is left out - he's instrumental in chance creation for us. Fascinating to see what Potter does though (and a nightmare for oppo managers who must be equally clueless as to what he's likely to do).

One thing is certain - Saturday will probably see the strongest bench we've ever had ? Likely to contain all or most of Button, Duffy, Mooy/Bissouma/Propper, Bernardo, March and Trossard/Gross and with full, current internationals not even making the squad.

So many leaving out Connolly. Did he not ‘create’ both of the goals we scored on Saturday, when he was on the pitch?

His pace and movement causes a lot of trouble for defenders, forces them to sit deeper, and this creates the space for the likes of Trossard and Groß to enjoy themselves.

Connolly and Alztae on the bench on at 66 mins against Norwich to accommodate Duffy, Mooy and Trossard for experience. I might very well start them at Old Trafford.
