Not too shoddy, although get Kuipers out of goal after today ...

I would got back to the Rotherham/Gillingham/Forest tactics of 4-3-3 and attack, the 4-4-2 has not solidified the defence and 4-5-1 will be us sitting back and asking to be attacked. Unlike in the recent past, I don't think we have players who are defensively good enough to sit back and take pressure, we have to take a passing game to the opposition and hope we hurt them, particularly early on when we have almost handed opponents leads in the last five games.

Hendo
Whing Santos Lynch Mayo
Hammond Carpenter Cox
Revell Hart Robinson

Subs: Kuipers, El Abd, Hinsh, Fraser, Williams.

Just 3 youngsters picked - our best 3 - that's enough at the moment, the rest of the players need experience of battles.

Just leave Carpenter out and williams replace with Cox into the middle and hart on the wing and Jakey up front
Sorry but Williams is just not up to it...
Far too early to say that. If Wilkins would play Revell alongside him instead of 50 yards apart we might see a bit more of the boy. Granted he was poor today but give him a chance of playing with someone rather than as a lone striker.

Gotta be 4-4-2, keep it simple, back to basics etc, etc

Hendo

Whing Hinch Butters Lynch

Robinson Hammond Carpenter Cox

Hart Revell

Subs: Rents, Kuipers, Santos, Fraser, Loft

The down side...
El-Abd has been weak for a long time and should never have been playing at centre back. Hardly won anything in the air and was regularly out of position. Not happy with Williams commitment and also didn't look like winning anything in the air which is bad since he sees his strength as holding the ball up.
The 'diamond' in the midfield isn't working!

The up side...
Lynch looked much better at LB today. Butters was solid and won most that came his way. Revell is getting better (but needs support) and chasing everything - deserved MOM today IMHO. All have impressed at some point so far this season, just not lately!:(

Why hasn't anyone played R & R upfront - these two were fantastic and struck up a great rapport in pre season.

Also - OGH has been playing as a right winger for pretty much the last 5 years and that is now his best position - why can't anyone realise this....

I reckon give this team two or three games, we'll have some stability back -

Henderson ( without a doubt)

Whing
Hinshlewood
Butters
Lynch if fit, or Rents.

Mayo or Fraser

Hart Hammond Cox

Williams Revell.

Subs:

Sullivan
El Abd
Santos
Fraser or Mayo or Rents if Lynch is fit.
Robinson.

I think we need to rest Carpenter and then we would get the best out of Hammond and play either Mayo or Fraser in front of the back four.

We've got to keep it simple and get back basics.
the formation played hasn't really worked.
Every footballer knows how to play 4-4-2 so lets play that.

Henderson

Whing Hinsh Butters Lynch

Hart Carpenter Hammond Cox

Revell Williams/Robinson

I would question the comment about knowing how to play 4-4-2. We haven't played 4-4-2 consistently since Adams arrived. The youth team under Wilkins played a lot of 4-3-3. Everytime we have tried to go to 4-4-2 we have ended up reverting to either 4-5-1 or 5-3-2.

The biggest problem is the lack of personel. We don't have a natural defensive midfielder which leaves too much space between the defence and midfield when playing 4 at the back. The quality of the crossing from the wide areas from players like Hart and Frutos is average at best so we don't create much playing this way. I think Cox is wasted on the wing. He has so much more than just crossing ability - he needs to be our play maker. I would go:

Henderson
Whing Lynch Hinshelwood Butters Rents
Hammond Mayo
Cox
Revell Williams

I am too lazy to look into this, but I think there is a chance that your starting eleven might be the youngest to play a league match in history. Not sure that's all that wise.
