This is quite an interesting one.

We don’t need to rest any players due to fatigue or fixture pile-up. However, from our last encounter with the scousers, we’ll have Lallana and Colwill missing. Some big decisions for RDZ. I think he might decide to boost the bench (with Mitoma and Ferguson) so that he can change the game if things go wrong. Liverpool will have learnt an awful lot from the last game so it’s important we don’t play exactly the same but hopefully play just as well. Starting Lamptey instead of Groß or Veltman at right back is going to present Liverpool with very different challenges (and hopefully not opportunities).

I think Steele will play over Sanchez

Think he'll go all in. Six days until the Bournemouth game so no real need to rest anyone - though believe in one or two changes just for general squad happiness.

Sanchez

Gross, Dunk, Webster, Pervis

Gilmour, Caicedo

Sarmiento, Mac Allister, Mitoma

Does Mac have to miss a game due to his booking last week?

MAc suspended isn't he?
Yellow card suspensions are competition specific so he will miss Bournemouth in the Premier League. Only red card suspensions are across all games.

You miss a game if you pick up 2 yellow cards in the FA Cup. If Caicedo gets booked against Liverpool he would miss a 5th round game as he was also booked against Middlesbrough. Bookings are wiped after the Quarter Finals.

You'd have to be insane having interesting thoughts to bench a fit Mitoma at present.

It’s about second guessing Klipperty. Essentially, I think he’ll drop TAA who was slaughtered by Mitoma in the last match. He’ll have someone like Milner there instead sitting deep at right back. Sarmiento would play more inside left for us with Lamptey providing a new attacking threat on the right (with March) that Klipperty has not planned for. If this doesn’t work, we then bring Mitoma on at some point to destroy Liverpool tired legs.

Or perhaps I’m over thinking it!!!

I would go full strength. Beat Liverpool and we have a good chance at going far in the competition.

Why second guess at all? Mitoma is in the form of his life, unless you are protecting / resting him, why on earth wouldn't you want the player that terrorised them 2 weeks ago starting the game? Imagine how the Liverpool players would feel seeing him on the bench - it would be a lift to them from from the outset.

So yes, no perhaps about it, you are overthinking it! :)

Give Mac Allister a chance further forward for this game as Groß can play pretty much anywhere. Steele in to keep him sharp, Lamptey in and Welbeck to baby sit him.
