So a reminder, we played Sunday, then we play Wednesday, then Saturday, then Thursday, then Monday.

This works out as 5 games (including one lasting around 130 minutes plus penalties) in 15 days.

If we don’t rotate Wednesday, then when?

From the Chelsea game 8 days to the Semi, 3 to Forest, 4 to Wolves, 5 to Utd, 4 to Everton. Travel to Forest then stay at home for over a fortnight.

Nothing like the schedule of an EPL team.

In my view he is one of several players who are going to be required to play a huge number of games in a very short period of time. He can’t possibly play every single game, so I am sure RDZ is looking at how many changes he can make to keep players fresh without upsetting the flow of the team too much.

Forest is one of our most winnable games remaining, and it’s in 2 days.

Why weaken our team for a crucial fixture? Estupinan plays if he’s fit. He’ll keep playing until he’s not, as should all of our first team players.

It’s so frustrating that we don’t have a back-up option for Solly or Mitoma.

Im not sure Welbeck even has an injury. Undav was ready to come on well before Welbeck went down & he walked off the pitch fine.

I am actually anticipating a few changes on Wednesday night, for a freshen up and to manage the squad’s minutes.

Something like this is possible;

On the working basis that Welbeck and Ferguson are both injured and Steele is fully fit. Minutes for Gilmour and possibly Moran.

I'd be surprised to see Undav appear for us again.

But who knows.

Now is not the time to vent about squad depth. Winning with what is available is the art of the possible. All else is: all my eye and Betty Martin.

Yes RDZ doesn't really change too much in the game if he doesn't have to. We were still looking dangerous right to the end so why change it?

I remember an interview with one of the well known managers (can't remember who!), he was asked why he didn't rotate with subs that much during the game. His reply, if I wanted that player on the pitch I'd have picked him. I know that's the opposite to someone like Potter, who couldn't decide who to play or what position but it sometimes does make sense to keep your first choice on the pitch if you can.

I was amazed he played on after that injury - the ocassion and adrenalin no doubt helping - and I will be pleasantly surprised if he’s not suffering from it now. Desperately hope he’s fit but wouldn’t be at all surprised if he’s not. Ankle injuries are crap.

Totally agree with keeping your best players on the pitch, however you could argue no one on the bench had the ability to improve or change the game. We clearly missed Ferguson, Lallana and Lamptey.

Maybe if a player looks out of sorts in training, otherwise maybe not at all. We have 9 Cup Finals ahead to win a place in Europe. RDZ will pick a team to win rather than a team to rest legs. I don't see more than a couple of changes per game, if that. Apart from the Steele/Sanchez and Webster/Colwill swaps and the Welbeck/Ferguson injury and recovery decisions, nothing looks obvious unless players don't show up in training. My guess is that every player will be up for the challenge and all want to play every game to finish the season on a high. RDZ will pick his strongest team and strongest bench for every match.
