I didn't manage to catch any of Saturday's game so apologies if I've made some stupid selections!

Here's my 11 - what would you go with?

..................................... Bart ....................................

Veltman ... van Hecke ... Dunk ..... Igor

.................... Groß ......... Gilmour ...................

.... Fati ................. Pedro ............. Mitoma

............................... Ferguson .........................

Despite Saturday, I would start Milner at left back as I really want us to go with Dunk and Igor as first choice CB's from now on so don't want to move Igor to LB and we have no other option. Hopefully Mitoma will offer more protection than Adingra did on Saturday and we're playing a poor Ajax, not the best team in the world this time. Plus, Milner being the professional he is, will not want to repeat Saturday.

Like Dunk and Igor, I really want Gross and Baleba to develop their partnership so would keep them in midfield. Ferguson shouldn't be starting for me, he needs a rest and should only be used as an impact sub for a bit so I would go with:

--------------Bart
Veltman - Dunk - Igor - Milner
--------Gross - Baleba
Adingra - Joao Pedro - Mitoma
--------------Fati

Yes, I know i've put Gilmour left back. I just don't think Igor will have any more luck than Milner in stopping wingers go round him. If we have to have a makeshift full back, he is my least worst option.

Gross and played quite a bit recently, so we'll have a first half of Lallana

We're you there Saturday?

Milner was awful, in fact worse than that a total liability. With Gross in front of him two posts driven into the ground could move quicker.

I know but as RDZ and pundits pointed out - he had no support at all and was playing against one of the most exciting, quickest and in form wingers in the world. Younger, specialist full backs are going to get torn a new one by Doku regularly.

Believe me, I don't want Milner starting at full back ever ideally but we don't really have any other options. Plus he did a decent enough job against Luton and Wolves and Ajax are closer to their standard than Man City.

The bench starts becoming difficult to populate but I'll be really frustrated if Steele is in goal again. Let's at least have a chance at a clean sheet in this game.

I was - Adingra was equally if not more culpable in our right-sided issues.
But as I posted having Gross, who is blessed with a footballing head and great skill but the speed of an asthmatic snail was in front of Milner, whose speed is that of a Lada full of elephants.

The problem for me was Milner retreated but then didn't engage at all in stopping the cross.

If he wants to play Milner he needs to play three in midfield.

Or the other way of looking at it, is that Doku is far from the only fast winger in this division and in the UEL

We need a full back who can stop people skipping round them.

Absolutely. Believe me, I was banging that drum on here all summer. I think we made a big mistake not signing a right back and ideally a left back before the season started.

But we're where we are now and unless Samuels or another from the kids breaks through and looks the part, we've got no other options for this Thursday.
