I was flicking between the darts and the American Football. Cracking game between the Eagles and Giants. I did, though, watch one of the last legs and thought - Fair enough Hankey could win the championship with a 12 dart finish. He then proceeded to miss single 12, 7 darts at a double in one leg and needed Jodrell Bank to find out where one of his attempts at double top went. He is now the WORLD CHAMPION for the BDO for gods sake. The least they could do is acknowledge their crapness with new nicknames

Tony ‘Double 1’ O’Shea
Ted ’21 Darts’ Hankey
Daryl ‘B&B’ Flitton
And
Martin ‘Bottle Job’ Adams

Yesterday was the first time watching sport on TV that I could actually say 'I could do better than that' and mean it. Not all the time of course. but watching them score 15, 30 and loads of 41's and 45's gives you a sense that these guys really are pretty average at times.
Exactly. I watched the last 3 sets whilst doing my IRONING and have to say it was a shocking game. Both players were crap - pub standard. O'Shea checked out with a 140ish at one point but that was the only class moment in the last hour.

I won't bother again - and I couldn't believe the commentators wetting themselves over it. Piss poor all round. :nono:

Thing is, you aren't likely to hear the commentators say, well this really is a pile of wank compared to the PDC final.

They can only say it as they see it.

Mind you they only get 2 televised tournaments a year at the BBC, so they have to get all excited.

Well I know that obviously, but at the end one of them said "if this isn't the greatest final EVER then I don't know what is".

:lolol: :lolol: :lolol: :lolol:

Was he WATCHING? For fucks sake, they were both UTTER TOSS. In the proper tournament, a players starts with a score of 100 and that is considered a chance for his opponent to break. In this shit alternative, when 100 is scored you're just relieved that there is some tiny semblance of professionalism on show.

yeah, that was Tony Green who also came out with this classic during one of Adams games.

Right, he needs 3, which way is he going to go!!:thud:

Taylor vs Barney is the best final ever because it was 2 players at their best going toe to toe. Yesterday Hankey was never behind from the end of the third set onwards.

I'd put Taylor vs Painter in joint 2nd place with Taylor vs Gregory.

Hankey makes for good TV and there's no doubt O'Shea is a fighter, but averages around the 90 mark tell their own story.

Can't you get your head around this. You're watching pub players in the BDO. Whilst on the PDC you're watching professionals, who can do averages of over 100 every single tournament. Another thing, did you realise that mostly of the finishes of tonight final was always two dart finishes, when in the PDC they do the higher finishes of 160, or 141 etc. if Hankey or O'Shea ever jumped ship, they would be crucified....

No they wouldnt. If they became proffesionals, they would have a lot more time to dedicate to darts, and so they would improve. Barney did it didn't he?
