Isn't the entrance to Car Park 5 in Sussex Uni the club's designated pick up/drop off point?

Yes. This is the official info the club give to fans who want a pick up/drop off.

"NONE OF THE TRANSPORT OPTIONS ARE SUITABLE FOR ME, CAN I BE DROPPED OFF INSTEAD?
As a last resort, we do have very limited availability for vehicles wishing to drop supporters off. The only appropriate place to do this is at car park 5 by the sports hall at the University of Sussex. No pick-ups or drop-offs are permitted along Village Way. Please ensure you arrive in plenty of time to avoid traffic build-up."

Lamptey called one for Grealish without much issue the other day so you should be fine.

I wonder if there is some reason prohibiting that from happening? Fell sure there would have been one set up there from the word go had it been possible.

Seem to vaguely recall that there was some earlydoors half-arsed petty squabbling as to whether taxis would fall under Brighton taxi bye-laws or Lewes taxi bye-laws. To which the obvious solution is to grow the f*ck up and reach a solution that both parties would benefit from

That would have some bearing for Hackney Carriages depending where the rank would be situated, but there’s nothing stopping the club having an allocated zone for Private Hire Pick up, Brighton Station has an allocated area for this [emoji1745]

wasnt it deliberatly left out? would discourage use of public transport and encourage people being driven and dropped off/picked up.

Well the club's strategy is to minimise single car usage and support public transport, park and rides, cycling, walking etc so i'm guessing yes.
This review (its from 2012 but still very relevant) outlines the club's transport strategy

Thanks for all the suggestions. I was thinking outside Falmer Farm Shop on Park St ( junction of Village Way and The Drove). Would that work? I've really no idea.

Can’t see why not.

Possibly a bit manic with all those who’ve paid to buy match day spaces from Falmer folk.

Sorry to bring this up again. Next season our Seagulls Travel coach is likely to cost £300, that's £1200 for the 4 of us. If we got a taxi in and out how close can the driver get regards drop off and collection? We all have trouble walking so must be near ground, no park and ride or uni.

You can get them to drop you off at the designated drop off point at the Uni.. They then run a shuttle service for people that need it.

You can get much closer than that. We have a cab every week and get dropped off and picked up from the coach park behind the south stand.

So is this 'official' drop off/collection point we can arrange with our driver?

Yep. As you turn into Village Way and go down the hill the first turning on the right has a little circular layby where cabs drop off and then can follow it round back out onto the road.

So you've got a walk of 100 or so yards through the coach park to the steps in front of the away end.

Pick up we normally get picked up from the top of said steps but we do have a beer or two for an hour after full time and the coach park is clear by then.

The club won't regard it as the "official" drop off point, that's in Uni car park on the other side of A27, but plenty of taxis do drop off/pick up there.

Have you seen/heard anything from Darren at ST?

Waiting to see what our season ticket price will go up by. Darren's already indicated a higher than usual rise for a number of reasons. He's also mentioned trying to get stewards on all buses/coaches.

We've had a few issues with ST this year so if the increase is steep I'll be looking at alternative travel.

Big fan of ST and use them for all home and most away games. But first the £50 increase because the club removed our free travel money then prices went up every year. I know running a coach isn't cheap but £300 each for four OAP's is nearly as much as our match season tickets.

I've also used them home and away for some time. We always had the same single decker and driver for home games - until this season! We now seem to get a different double decker and driver every week with a number of associated problems ... including having to change buses for return journeys and breakdowns. Will make decision whether or not to buy a ST from them for next season when I get the email with cost and what changes they're making to the service to improve things.
