If you are a student and dont plan on earning over your annual allowance then you should fill in a form P38(S) and give this to your payroll department and they will put you on a NT tax code meaning you will pay no tax till you reach your annual allowance.
This is a special scheme for students who work in their holidays.
Hope that helps as if you go on a normal 503l tax code if you earn over a certain weekly amount you may be liable to tax and it takes a while to claim it back. This way you will pay none till you reach your annual limit.
