Not good enough for the first XI I think we all agree, but it's always useful to have capable back up players, which he is.
quick to write him off? really? he’ll have been here for five years in january, and for much of that time he’s either never been fit or able to play adequately in his natural position. i’m not saying he isn’t very talented and i’m not saying he’s not had very good performances, but he’s not getting in ahead of the glut of talented right-wingers we have at the moment and he’s consistently shown that he isn’t good enough defensively to play right back. i wouldn’t say that any of those observations are overly hasty judgements.Just over a year ago, this was the player who ran the second half show against Marseille and got us a vital draw, some people would do well to remember that. He was instrumental in Evan's goal on Saturday and scored himself last night. I can't understand why some people are so quick to write him off, he's still an exciting player and can improve for a run of games.
Indeed. Looked very dangerous when he came forward and put in some great crosses. Also created Ferguson's goal on Saturday. The overreaction is ludicrous. Last night his pace and delivery created the best chance for us before we did actually score our two goals, one of which he actually scored himself. He wasn’t at fault for the first goal despite what people are saying and yes he could have been stronger for the second but it does not merit this level of criticism.
Man Of the Match last night.Indeed. Looked very dangerous when he came forward and put in some great crosses. Also created Ferguson's goal on Saturday.
Totally unsuited. The only place he can play is wide.Tariq needs a positional change, if he learnt how to play in midfield he'd be a great cdm
He's got all the attributes to be a class cdm. He's great on the ball, agile, quick and a decent defender. He'd have to spend along time learning the role, but it's better than wasting his skill on the bench as a rb.Totally unsuited. The only place he can play is wide.
I can, elements of the fanbase have become entitled and must have a scapegoat for every result.Just over a year ago, this was the player who ran the second half show against Marseille and got us a vital draw, some people would do well to remember that. Our last three managers don’t agree. None of them have ever played him in that role. Tariq is a great guy who will always do his best out wide. He will never play a PL match in CDM. Solly has the same attributes and will also never play CDM. It is an incredibly hard position to play. Tariq plays where his pace is best used. He's got all the attributes to be a class cdm. He's great on the ball, agile, quick and a decent defender. He'd have to spend along time learning the role, but it's better than wasting his skill on the bench as a rb.
No way- his defensive work was very poorMan Of the Match last night.
It was announced straight after the game.No way- his defensive work was very poor
Except he's tiddly and would get muscled off the ball every time he has it. There is also much less space to run in the centre than out wide, and that's his real strength. If people complained about Gilmour getting dominated by physical opposition, imagine Lamptey! He's got all the attributes to be a class cdm. He's great on the ball, agile, quick and a decent defender. He'd have to spend along time learning the role, but it's better than wasting his skill on the bench as a rb.
Disagree on CDM, he isn't strong enough, but agree on a new position. He'd be great as a wingback ahead of a back threeTariq needs a positional change, if he learnt how to play in midfield he'd be a great cdm
