What the hell has happened to him? He looks a pale shadow of his former self and rarely takes on players now, or looks much of a threat on the rare occasions that he goes forward. Have we coached all that youthful skill, verve and tenacity out of him? I used to get a real buzz when he picked up the ball and moved forward but we see so little of that now. How on earth have we managed to turn such an exciting player into one that now looks distinctly average most of the time? I wish I knew.

He’s been playing like this for a while. Teams have worked him out after bursting on to the scene as a surprise package.

He wasn’t terrible today either. He did take players on at times. More often than others too. He also had the ball an awful lot against a poor Norwich side. You can’t expect him to run at and beat players 50 times a match.

He's studied too long at the Solly March school of attacking, where you beat your man and then cut back, every single time!

He can't possibly be 100% fit, or even close.
Maybe the coaching staff told him to protect his hamstrings or perhaps it's in his head? Whichever it is he's barely worth his place right now. Just no alternatives right now, I guess. He, like about two thirds of the team, could do with the season ending right now

Looks like he’s petrified of getting hurt by a defender. Confidence shot. Plays much better as a RWB not a RB

Think the injuries have taken their toll. Has lost a yard of pace. Bottom half prem player at the moment. Hopefully he regains his mojo.

On the plus side at least no one will want him at the moment.

Sorry. Love him but Tariq was terrible today

Maybe it's my Blue and White tinted specs but he seemed to have the shite kicked out of him today and nothing, one tackle from him and it's a yellow.

I think he's worried about injuring his hamstring again. He was out for a long time earlier with this issue.

He's not been the same since coming back from that injury, and that's a while now. I wonder if he will ever be. Michael Owen and others were also never quite the same.

Good today. Spent the day beating players and then getting wiped out. It’s hard to be as effective as he was given he is now pretty much always doubled.

The Michael Owen comparison is on the money. When you are just ‘fast’ instead of being the fastest player in the world, your game needs to change. He rarely dribbles or races a player to the ball now. Our £50m+ right back prospect is just an average £15m EPL player now, so so sad but clearly not his fault. That injury has taken away his top end speed and acceleration.

I thought he was more attack-minded in the second half. In the first half he seemed to constantly pass it back to Veltman. I was mildly amused by the people around me getting incredibly antsy and frustrated with this, yet any time anyone else had the ball the people around me were begging for it to be passed to Lamptey. The guy they were moaning about constantly playing it back.

Like any young player who’s relied on pace as his primary asset Tariq is going to have to improve on a lot of other aspects of his game. He ha plenty of time.

Yes, crazy isn't it? He gets kicked in the air several times a match. Occasionally the culprit gets a yellow after the third or fourth foul. Tariq gets an automatic yellow for nothing nearly every time.
