He is not going to be a power house wing back again, after a hamstring operation - I doubt he will want to get to full speed in fear of it going again - personally I think we should sell up if the big money offers are still around.

Personally I think you talking bollocks unless of course you are a specialist in sporting injuries and corrective surgery.

Bit of a gloomy outlook, to say the least.

Do have an ITK regarding his precise injury and surgery?

Treatment for hamstring injuries has come a long way since the days of Michael Owen (in fact he talks about it in this video, at 8:28):

https://youtu.be/2YFEwTa_DjU?t=509).

I also suspect the club has deliberately been overly cautious because we have a tremendous player on our hands.

This is turning into a serious issue. I know hamstring issues are common in football but I can’t think of any players who have been out for this long with that kind of injury.

He's not even close to Will Buckley territory, yet.

He hasn’t played competitive football since before Christmas and has has a significant operation to address a serious hamstring issue. I’m certainly managing my expectations regarding Lamptey and think that those who believe he is simply going to pick up where he left off are being v unrealistic.

Not a huge surprise. The club already said they’d be wrapping him in cotton wool for this season. He’s literally the fastest player in Europe (probably the world) and hamstring problems at this age are almost inevitable. Great care needs to be taken over the next couple of years to avoid him becoming another Will Buckley.

These aren't the players you're looking for.

Such a shame, maybe it went again but doubt we'll see him this season. He's already been out for 7 months and now this bomb shell.

What bomb shell?

He is recovering slowly.

This is what Potter said.

“It’s important that we just stay patient and do the right things for him, make sure we finish off this last stage of his rehab in a good way, because it’s not necessarily about being available for the first game, it’s about being available for as many games as he can in the season.”

Potter, asked whether Lamptey will be involved in the remaining friendlies at Luton Town next Saturday and at home to Getafe on August 7, said: “At this stage, I would say it’s unlikely but you never know. We’ve got a plan but we’ll see how he responds.”

Fingers crossed for the lad.

This August, the right side of our defensive line-up is going to look and bit different to the beginning of last season with White and Lamptey not playing.

Certainly explains the Livramento signing if it happens - sounds like he could get first go if he arrives soon.

Assume we must be waiting for White money before getting striker and left back now suppose we will have to also consider right back

To be honest I wouldn’t assume anything regarding the White money regarding incoming players. I believe the bulk of it will be used to cover last seasons losses. The club cannot go on losing tens of millions of pounds season after season.

Exactly. Bit of an overreaction from some here.

Tariq’s just recovering from a serious injury, of course we’re going to ease him back in. There’s absolutely no need or logic in risking him in meaningless friendlies.

Whilst I agree that is the plan, whether or not the club can afford to lose tens of millions each season, is entirely down to Tony.
There is nothing to suggest that Tony needs to have last season's losses back this season.
He may well believe that picking up bargains during a covid affected market, is better than sitting on transfer income.
