I think there's absolutely no need to rush him whatsoever. Far better to get him back to 100% fitness over a longer period of time and get his full on pitch value than throw him in and risk causing longer term damage. We repaired Welbeck, which seemed an impossibility a few years ago. We can get Lamptey back right again and he has shown glimpses of his old ability. He just needs time and he'll get it here because we respect our players.

He seems to have lost a little pace since his injury but more significantly lost his confidence to beat his man.
Where on many occasions when he broke through, he would run at, and past defenders, now he stops and cuts back instead. Hopefully he can get his edge back, but as others have said he needs more game time for that to happen.
The fact is that with the level that March is currently playing at, he will have to wait a bit longer.

The way I see it, it started out as managing his minutes, now he's just second choice for his position to a player in the form of his life.
It would be unusual for someone age 20 to never recover their pace again after this type of injury, normally that's the fate of players nearing their 30's but I suppose it happens, Lua Lua wasn't much older when he had his bad injury, nor Michael Owen.
The extent to which he's permanently lost that explosion in the acceleration and the extent he's holding back for reasons of confidence of injury management, only he and senior club staff know

Better chance of getting a game there than at Brighton at the moment anyway.

Did you not see his cameo v Fulham?? Came out of that thinking he has past those issue and was looking back to his pre-injury best - terrorised their left back

I agree. I think Tariq is much improved on last season. Whilst not the lightening rod he was before the injury, Tariq is to my eyes definitely recovering well. It's a tough team to break into at the moment so I am more than happy to see him enter the fray late on to continue terrorising tired defenders.

All I saw was their left back taking out Lamptey on every occassion.
But on the subject of Tariq playing for Ghana (and against Brazil of all teams), KO is on Friday 23rd at 7:30 but it's a friendly and being played in France. So in therory he could be let off on the Tuesday if Palace is moved.

Knocking the ball past the left back and getting him booked with one of his first touches was certainly a positive sign. Shame there wasn't much time left to capitalise on the booking after.
I'm sure his pace is still there. The club have stated that they'd take things very slowly with him for a couple of years, and this probably means being very careful with the volume of explosive sprint training he does during the week.

Reports in Portugal that Sporting still interested in Lamptey. Supposedly they want a loan with an option to buy. We want a straight sale.

Wouldn’t call it a fire sale, we’ve sold one world class player with potentially a second one going. And shifting players the manager clearly doesn’t fancy into his style of play.
Meanwhile up the road they’ve just given Nathaniel Clyne a contact extension lol
