No polls here, but what are the views on Talk Talk? Mixed career, albumwise, but a unique sound and enough great tunes, even up to 'Spirit of Eden,' to merit a space in any discerning music collection.

The Party's Over was a great album but It's My Life is a classic that should be in any eighties-music lover's collection. Talk Talk were one of the most underrated bands of the eighties and Mark Hollis is a genius. The acoustic slow version of Call in the Night boys is even better than Duran Durans The Chauffeur and rates right up there with Japan's 'Nightporter'.

First time I came heard Talk Talk was when they were known as The Reaction (1977 ish). The song Talk Talk was politically motivated and not a keyboard insight.
Not bad but not great ...

My second favourite band - and I love Mark Hollis's solo stuff. Difficult to explain but it's not so much the notes he puts in, it's the ones he leaves out.

However people who know who my favourite band is will probably think I'm no real judge of music.

They were on he bill for the "Six of the Best" show at Milton Keynes bowl.

They seemed a little bit miffed at being pelted with watermelon and bottles by the discerning Genesis fans in attendance.

But I grew to quite like them in time, and whilst never owning any of their music, I have to admit to quite liking to hear it when it is still occasionally played on the radio.

As others have said, not great, but probably one of the better bands of their ilk.

They seemed to get better as their popularity decreased, which was a shame. Their final Album is one of my all time favourites.

If this was about the phone company I would say avoid, I had my home phone with them, cancelled the contract on moving home...they kept taking money for a service no longer being provided, I informed them and they stopped and refunded the money after about three months, then started to take money again...fortunately they refunded this, again after several months and loads of phone calls...they haven't tried since.

Such a shame was one of my favourite EVER 80's songs :bowdown::bowdown:

This is the first time that I have EVER agreed with Ernest on anything. Am I in a parallel universe where this Ernest loves Dick Knight, Wendy and thinks McgHee was a good manager?:eek::eek:
