I remember when I moved into University halls that all the "cool" parents would say "cheers." I found it embarrassing.

I have an odd habit of saying more than one at the same time.

E.g. getting off a bus, I always say "Cheers, thanks", or "Ta, cheers".

"Cheers" is a word I only use as a toast. "Nice One" is a term I never use. "Thanks", "Thankyou" and "Thankyou very much" are my responses to demonstrate gratitude.
