Switching it off and on is the problem

OK, I have a computer problem I could do with some help on, so if anyone can help, here are the details;

My PCs main hard drive is it's H drive (don't ask why, it's how it came from the maker)
I also have a partitioned drive on the H drive, called the C Drive where I keep all my music.
I bought a nice external HDD for backing up stuff and archiving stuff and the like which I have designated the M Drive.
Now, whenever I boot up the computer, it tries to boot from the M drive, basically I have to turn off the external HDD before I boot the PC.

Anyone got any suggestions as to how I can stop it trying to boot from the M drive? Or force it to only try to boot from the H drive.

Thanks, Phil

Change the boot order in the BIOS setup screens (Press DEL/F2/F11/F12 or whatever it tells you at boot up).
Look for something like "Removable USB Devices" and move it below the "Hard Disk" in the list.

have you tried leaving it on and not switching it off again?

Oh Dave, how I laughed, I knew someone would do that :laugh::lolol:

I'm looking a the BIOS stuff, but as far as I can see the thing is set to boot form the H drive. Can't re-designate that, has to stay as H. Going to try and change position of "removabel hard disks" to below the H drive, see if that works.

Wish me luck

Cheers for that, it seems to have done the job. :)
