Picked up Super Mario Wonder. I’m a bit of a gamer with a Switch and PS5 (and naming myself after a video game character) but I must say in terms of pure fun, it’s the best game I’ve played for ages.

It controls beautifully (it’s a Mario game), the graphics on the OLED screen are beautiful, the soundtrack gorgeous. Only criticism is it’s a little short, and not the hardest game in the series.

£34.95 with free delivery by The Game Collection. Beat it and sell it to Cex for £18 cash. Not bad!

I got that day one of getting the console and quite enjoyed it. Controversially though I didn’t love it and haven’t bothered with the sequel. To be honest I can’t stand weapon durability - it just didn’t feel like Zelda to me. It was more like an open world crafting thing with all the things I hate in modern gaming, cooking, repetitive shrines etc. It was really well made as always by Nintendo, but not my cup of tea.

Link’s Awakening remake on the other hand I absolutely loved

I just got the master sword as soon as possible and then largely ignored weapon durability for the rest of the game. I suspect this isn't the intended option (not least because it was harder to do that in the sequel), and I also largely ignored the cooking and stuff.

I do recommend Tears of the Kingdom if you basically enjoyed Breath of the Wild, particularly if its been a couple of years since you played the latter. It's basically an expansion pack (I realise that's not a selling point :lolol:) and most things are just that bit better and/or more interesting. The shrines are a lot better for a start, I actually actively enjoyed doing them and made an effort to find them.

If you (or anybody else reading this) does buy it, I highly recommend switching the voices to Japanese unless you absolutely rely on them and can't read the subtitles. It might not work as well if you have even a vague knowledge of Japanese, but for me it massively increased the games sense of place rather than being some sort of am-dram Holy Grail reenactment.

*sigh* I’ll add it to the list…
