Swine flu, or a cold?

I recall seeing a GP on the tellybox last week who was saying she had had a confirmed case at her surgery where the person with swine-flu felt fine. I think that is the problem not all people are getting the high temperatures or other more crippling symptoms.

why were they at the GP then? if check up and Dr was doing preemptive check for flu, did they later develop symptoms. you carry it for days before it shows.

Flu is nasty, but actually many people never get it, worse they'll have is a bad cold. i have years ago and it puts "man flu" into perspective.

I had swine flu and it's horrid. I was off work and I couldn't leave the bed. Joint/muscle aches, migraine, nausea et all. Oh and I couldn't eat either. Your friend has a cold or nothing at all.

I have been off with swine flu for a week but should be back at work in the next couple of days - if my work let me. It is not nice but it is just like normal flu really, except that (for me at least) the symptoms came on very quickly, which was slightly scary. My body fought the worst of it off after about 4 days but it left me exhausted and with the usual after effects of flu (bacterial lung infection and lots of coughing).

flu makes you feel really shit , the only time you get out of bed is when you think you are going to shit yourself , as you have a bucket by the bed , mainly for puke and piss and the missus hasn't emptied it yet.

It's the quarantine arrangements that I find most worrying. At our place, if somebody comes down with confirmed swine flu (and two have this week in our open plan office and its only Tuesday) then everybody within about two square metres of them gets a compulsory four day quarantine break. Which is fine for the permanent members of staff. They get four days off on full pay to have a high old time. Whereas us contractors get four days enforced layoff with no pay

Ive only had flu a couple of times. Once i was polaxed virtually halucinating, the other I was quite mobile despite cramps.

Its down to your immune system and how bad you get it.

Hmmm. I have a relative that is heavily involved in employment law, so I can find out if you so wish..,

Cheers for the offer and would be interested to hear your relative's view. Tho strongly suspect the client will just enforce the bare terms of the contract and simply refuse to sign the timesheet as technically the hours haven't been worked. Pretty sure there isn't a 'quarantine' clause in the contract. I guess if they're feeling generous they might let us work from home, even tho the work doesn't easily lend itself to that.
