I see Swindon have just made their 5 th signing of the summer, a defender from Celtic who follows the weekend deal for Jonathan Douglas from Leeds - he looks like a good buy. They also have their 1.5 million to replace Simon Cox, which won't be easy but big money to spend. It looks like Danny Wilson's putting together a goodm strong team there. Don't be surprised to see them challenge for the play offs.

The Swindon fans reckon that £600,000 of that fee has to be paid to Reading as a sell on clause.

The thing is, last season they had the best striker in the league and they JUST stayed up. Imagine how adrift they'd have been without him. Now they've lost him, they are (in theory) starting with the worst squad of anyone. They've made some good signings I agree, but it won't be enough to push them to the top 6 this year. I expect them to be like us - much improved and comfortable but not good enough for play-off contention.

Stockport will have worse squad surely? Interesting because they are basically doing the same as us, totally re-building the squad. Wilson is a clever manager who knows the division inside out. I think they may surprise a few people...

If you took Simon Cox goals away last season, they would of been dead and buried. Now he has gone who will score 25 goals this time around, they might of brought in Douglas and a few others but I can't see them even being in the top half of the table.

Think they'll struggle big time. Like others have said much of the fee for Cox will go to Reading, and they will struggle to attract a striker who will get 20+ goals. Without a real prolific striker, and what is still only an average squad imo can see Swindon as well as Hartlepool without Porter really struggling. I think the three promoted clubs will all finish mid table, gills a bit lower, but i expect Swindon to be in a relegation battle!

We beat his Bristol City in Cardiff and he failed with all theirsignings so left and the same will happen if Swindon are not in the play off places just after Christmas. Perhaps he will sign his son from Stevenage to stop him shagging Lampards ex.

But Robinson's given them the bird, Cox has gone, the only replacements so far are midfielders and SPL reserves, and the second they attempt to sign any other decent League One strikers with the proceeds of Cox's sale, Huddersfield will muscle in and beat them to the punch (a previous Leeds tactic: sign all your opponents' best players), or at least raise said striker's wage expectations to a level Swindon can't match.

So I don't reckon they'll be as strong as they initially looked like being.
