Swindon have handled this very very badly with the "If it's not in writing, it's not a bid" cr@p, and now PUBLICLY turning down another bid... as we always say when the boot is on the other foot: if the player wants to leave there is fcuk all you can do to stop it happening or, if you do, you have a p1ssed-off player on your hands with no fee at the end of his contract...
