My thoughts exactly. So many supported and helped us win our battle, we owe it to other clubs in crisis to return the favour.

The http://www.clubsincrisis.com/ slogan is "Nobody wins unless everybody wins...". Which also means we all lose if clubs like Swindon go out of business.

BTW, the slogan comes from a Bruce Springsteen concert :guitar:

It's very sad that the Swindon fans have done so little - they seem to have adopted a 'leave it to the people at the top to sort it out' approach which, erm, DOESN'T WORK!!!!
Really hope things turn out right though.
Mansfield on Jan 5 will be different. They are battling hard to get rid of their version of the devil incarnate, Haslam in their case. There aren't that many of them, but they are organised, active, vocal and are asking for our support in a joint demonstration inside the ground.

i don't think it's fair to say we've done little. there's been a number of us who have been protesting after games for over a year now, as well as other things. the trust have been working tirelessly in an attempt to inform people about the true nature of the board. we have a very apathetic support and it's been extremely difficult to change people's attitudes.

Sadly, the wider Swindon fanbase don't seem to want it enough. There's plenty of people willing and able to help Swindon in their struggle to stay alive. Unfortunately, there don't seem to be many visible signs of any such struggle. If you have 'a very apathetic support' then what exactly are the rest of us supposed to do?

been there done it.

if they are anything like leeds fans were then their attitude wont change until it is too late. we were on ridsdales back long before things went wrong, at his house, at meetings, writing, calling, turning up and generally getting under his skin. so he got us arrested time and time again for harassment, intimidation, vandalism blah blah. the other 40k inside elland road were too busy living the dream. i dont believe in i told you so but damn, no one cared, no one listened. until that day he pitched up after selling woody.

keep fighting though.

i'm not here to drum up support from you all, i wouldn't expect anyone to give two shits about swindon - i started posting because its_neil gave me a link to a topic about our plight, i was pleasantly surprised by the level of interest and like the chocolate nobody wants, i've hung around.

tonight's announcement of a conditional agreement and pending takeover should focus minds - if it falls through now, there will be unprecedented levels of support for the takeover. fortunately i don't think it will fail now we've reached this position.

starry - sounds all too familiar. how are things at leeds anyway? i've not heard much but positives this season; is your success on the pitch detracting from other matters?

The trouble is, we DO give two shits about Swindon. Well, one shit minimum.

Just having trouble understanding why your own fans don't seem to care more.

Stay around for as long as you like! It's good to have a bit of a mix of fanbases around, there used to be a lot more fans from different clubs on here a few years ago!

I hope it all works out for you.

Sonic - you've been made welcome and it's genuine. No right minded fan wants to see any town club go out of business because there's a thread that connects us all.

Just for the record though, I don't think Brighton fans are any more or less motivated than any others (well maybe a bit more). The incredible work that was done to help save BHA was primarily driven by a few handfuls of intelligent and massively motivated fans :)ascarf:). They persuaded, bullied and cajoled our broader fan base until eventually a lot of people -including me - got up and got involved.

And then they went and did it some more. Apathetic fans are at all clubs - the only way to get them moving is sheer determination. Let's hope it's not too late for Swindon.

it's all positive at the moment - financially things are on an even keel, the team have performed far better than anyone dared to think possible, there is a lot going on behind the scenes with regards to buying the ground/land around it and redevelopment. we are still fighting against the 15 point deduction, we have requested an arbitration panel now but that is a mere formality, bates is geared up for the high court. much rather go up anyway and stick two fingers up in mawhinney's face but we'll see come may.

i think today is the start of a new era at STFC but we shall see. diamandis and wills no longer have any shares in the club so they're out of the picture and i'm off out tonight and tomorrow night to celebrate.

phil - will have to meet up for a pint when we play at the withdean. it's just after my birthday and my new year's resolution is to start drinking again...

starry - good luck to you. as a swindon fan i know all about harsh treatment by the fa/fl. had a good night out up in leeds when we played you, top day that was. you can keep dennis wise though!

I think that's a bit harsh, an attitude of apathy is just indicative of modern football. If the events of 10 years ago happened now I think we'd be in the shit. Could you really see the withdean bobblers on the pitch or chasing the MD out of the ground.
