It is true, there are many decent Swindon fans (many of whom were sat around me in their main stand when we won 1-0 in the play-off semi), they are the real losers if their club folds...something I wouldn't wish on anybody.

I am amazed the only place I am hearing this discussed is on here. Suggests to me the bulk of the Swindon fans need a wake up call.

They sold Ben Tozer for £1/4m on Monday. Surely that keeps the wolf from the door for a few days, while the take-over is ironed out?

e77, that is pretty much what I said earlier, many of their fans appear totally ambivolent to the whole thing...I know we are past masters at protesting, but if my club were that close to going under I would be making a fair amount of noise about the whole thing.

He went to Leeds didnt he, so they wont be getting any money for months if ever.

What was the rate that Leeds pay out at, something like 8p in the pound...should net them all of £20k

we don't have any players worth looking at, our best player is on loan from reading - simon cox. he goes back soon though.

i'm not sure what we've done to your club to upset some of you so much you'd like to see us go out of business but never mind.

administration is no longer an option, we would face liquidation and subsequently expulsion from the league, we would be forced to enter below swindon supermarine - effectively meaning we're no longer the senior side in the town.

tozer hasn't been sold yet but the deal is £200k-£250k up front with the rest in installments dependent on him netting a hat-trick in the women's uefa cup final etc etc...considering we owe the taxman £1.9m it's not even a drop in the ocean.

nobody knows what's going on, both sides and claiming that they're waiting for the opposite side to do something. we've reached this point in two previous takeover attempts where things just stall with the lawyers and the club claim they've done everything neccesary, effectively shifting the blame.

i'd like to say there would be all out rioting on saturday if the takeover fell through but i'd be lying. our fanbase is apathetic and ignorant.

sonic - ignore the prats who would happily see your club disappear, most of them are just wind-up merchants. There must be some pretty short memories on here as it nearly happened to us 10 years ago, there are plenty of decent fans on here who will happily set aside any rivalries when it comes to matters like this.

I agree. Ignore them Sonic.

What is holding up the takeover, do you know?

without wishing to sound rude, i really couldn't give a toss about people who want to see us go out of business. personally i hate o*ford united with a passion but i'd never want to see them go bust...it wouldn't be any fun would it?

i appreciate the kind words, bit of a shame we're not playing you again this weekend as things might be a little more messy!

nobody's sure what is holding it up but past experience suggests it's greed and the board thinking they can hold on for a big payday.

is that the same andy fitton as the man from transcomm?

yep! his business partner is jeremy wray, younger brother of edward wray - the founder of betfair. the co-founder of betfair andrew black is also involved in the consortium.

Like others, I would hate to see another club go down the toilet. That said, if the vast majority of their fans aren't prepared to do anything about it, then my sympathies are somewhat diluted. sonicyouth shouldn't have to do it all by himself/herself.

good luck to him. i did a lot of business with andy about ten years ago, i never realised until not that it was the same person.

hope it all works out for you.
