I always looked on it as being the boil on the arse end of nowhere...Wiltshire is a lovely county, it would be far nicer if they could off-load Swinedon.

Pretty fair description. Its bloody lovely around Swindon - I've lived in the area for 9 years (by choice!). Thatched cottages, sweeping downland, great independent village pubs, peaceful and quiet. There seems to be a much more laid back attitude by the farmers and landowners, rather than the 'Get off my land' attitude that seems to be prevalent in Sussex.

The town of Swindon though is just a run-down dump, which I avoid whenever possible.
