Its up to the individual but why anyone wants to buy a ticket fo swindon v bighton in advance i have no idea. Swindon must hold 15 to 20K and the crowd wont get close to that. f swindon make it all ticket o get in then that is commercial suicide, they will allow you in on the day. worst case s you will be in the home end, but really this is the third division not the european cup final. Altho' is doesn't bother me either way as I dont fancy travelling to swindon on a summers day in any event

As you say, you could end up in the home end, which defeats the object of going ???
I also presume that those that have tickets wanted to make sure they were in the main stand instead of having the possibility of being in the uncovered stand.

And why does it defeat the object of going to the game?

Some people like to just watch the game, and do not care where in the ground they sit, OK if Brighton score the celebrations are muted but some of us are not 16 and need to bound around for ages.( although in high pressure games it is recommended)

I agree most times its better to be in with Brighton fans but I live in Swindon so I will be with mates anyway.

The Swindon office told me that the open section WILL be open if necessary.

Which is exactly what i was getting at, most people will prefer to sit in the away end hence buying their tickets early, because sitting amongst Swindon fans does not appeal to most. Its nothing to do with being 16, but it is natural to want to sit with your own set of supporters, its hardly much of an effort to get the tickets anyway is it.

This. Plus it saves queuing when you get there. I love going to away matches and singing "Good old Sussex by the sea", I can hardly do that in the home end can I? and having stood in both stands, I'd definitely rather be on the side of the pitch.

It is an effort to get tickets if

1, you dont live in Brighton
2, You dont want to sign up to away membership schemes ( again ) for what could be a one off game this season.

As previous posters have said Swindon is 15-20 k capacity....why the panic?

Some of us older chaps like to sit with friends at football regardless of who they support..

I dont get excited anymore being surrounded by gobby yoofs who dont even wear team colors.

I know that the Arkells stand is large BUT with the normal Swindon security (OTT) you will sit on your numbered seat and that seat only......unless they have changed in the 2 years I have been away.

Oh, I also like to get a seat at the back so that I can stand there happily without being asked to sit down / move. I've got a seat in row S so should be OK.

People who want to sit in their allocated seem to always turn up at 3.04pm which is f*cking annoying when you're getting into a match.

I understand that, but someone earlier said they have no idea why you'd buy a ticket in advance. It is easy for most, i've been into Brighton a few times since the tickets have come on sale, and others can just order online. For the sake of a 5 minute diversion in town to save queueing at the gate and possibly being sat in the home end, it to me sounds worthwhile. Again your post goes back to the age thing, which it appears you have a problem with, as Notters said many would obviously rather be in with their own set of supporters, its natural.

In the past, you've always been able to pay on the day for the away end, even though its always advertised as all-ticket. Seem to remember it costs an extra quid tho.

Looking forward to a summer game, as its always been in December for the last few years. Last year was absolutely bloody freezing.

I cannot make a decision until probably Friday so if it is pay on the day will go irrespective of where I sit/stand but I hope to be in the open area behind the goal as in the past even when it has p....d down.

Are people still worried about sitting in their allocated seats?! I think the Villa match was the only time I even looked at what seat number was on the ticket last season...

It may be my age but what is the point of a club having a membership scheme to control the ticket sales and only selling to those people, and then selling you a ticket with a number that corresponds to you and your membership and then allow you to sit anywhere. Where is the control?

I guess the control is that all tickets are for the away section. I don't think they've ever tracked the individual ticket numbers - have they?. Also it allows the club to refuse sales to known offenders by cancelling their membership.

Isnt the idea of a numbered tickets on seats so that the club can identify people if required. EG a missile is thrown from Block A row C seat no 26 the club can then identify the holder of that ticket. If anybody can sit there it negates that.

No its not your age it makes 100% sense.....

BUT is the away membership scheme for being able to track trouble makers or is it a money making scheme?

Weren't 90% of our games last season strictly all-ticket, only to magically turn to pay on the day a couple of days before?

Like bollocks it's due to police advice, it's so the club can get a cut of each ticket it sells. Shameless, but the club is a business after all.

I will be very surprised if this doesn't become pay on the day by the middle of next week.

Swindon's a bit different though isn't it? There were LOADS of police there last season, filming us throughout the game, etc. and there will probably be two or three times as many Brighton fans this season.
