Swapping SIMs between Virgin and T-Mobile

Does anyone know if you can use a Virgin mobile SIM in a T-mobile phone? I know there is some connection between the two networks (they share a network?) and I've managed to find an article on internet about someone who uses a T-mobile SIM in their Virgin phone.

I've seen a new phone I like in Argos reduced, but its on T-mobile, and I want to stay with my Virgin SIM.

Thanks in advance for any help!

:)

Virgin do use the T mobile network.

Well, I took a risk, went and bought it, and it works fine with the Virgin Mobile Sim, it just has a T-mobile logon on the phone, but other than that, it was worth it to save £60!!

If you unlock the phone then don't you invalidate the guarantee? If you're happy to do that then go ahead...

I've been switching the two for years. I have found that Virgin sims will work fine in T-Mobile phones and even shortcut WAP / GPRS buttons will still connect OK. Settings are often the exact same. There is no need to unlock. However, not so much luck putting T-Mobile sims in Virgin phones unless the phone was purchased over 2 years ago.

Correct.

Getting it unlocked counts as tampering with it, which invalidates your guarantee (at least for the company I work for, not sure about other people's policies on the matter).
