I saw some crap about players should not have to accept racism on social media as part of their job. They don’t.

Playing football is their job, they choose to be on social media. Racism is wrong whatever.

Completely agree. However, pick your battles maybe because this is one which football simply cannot win for the multitude of reasons already mentioned on this thread. All very commendable what clubs doing in support. I just can’t ever see a world in perfect harmony. Hard enough trying to achieve in one country and culture such as UK. But trying to eradicate abuse worldwide? Online? That’s naive to the point of being disingenuous. And I feel for the fans who do follow club social media, 99 being punished because of the one who ruins it for everyone basically although I’d have to add if Albion did this I’d probably not even be aware. So is it almost tokenism?

You mean you post all this stuff yourself Easy? I handed over my NSC account to a media management company about 18 months ago. They just post on my behalf and send me an Excel spreadsheet of Thumbsup’ once a month.

I thought that’s what everybody does

A little while ago Joe Hart had to apologised of something "he posted", but put the blame on his publicist who handles his social media accounts, think it a lot more common that we think.

I'm that example, his account posted Spurs won when they lost. As mistakes go, that's a sack the board one.

How about everyone boycotts them forever?

Yep, this a million times.

The trouble is for most of those on social media these days is there’s too much narcissism and/or capitalism soaked into the system, essentially the users are like meth addicts, the very thing they crave for their own self aggrandisement is also diminishing them.

Cold turkey is overall the answer, but then they lose income and/or status.......and so the whole tiresome pissypant circus rolls on.

I don’t think Facebook etc will give a damn. Bit of a joke really. Just come off it altogether forever

I've not touched my Facebook account in about a year and I've no intention of ever going back to it. Zuckerberg is a complete scumbag IMO.

Why do so many footballers have Facebook and Instagram anyway? Surely they are opening themselves up directly to be targeted by trolls, let alone the sad cases of racism.

Just don't understand the need to have it.

In which case the racist trolling is actually being received by (probably) white media/publicity types rather than black players. It makes the whole thing even more bizarre.
