Sven: "Rooney is match fit"

From todays press conference.

"For me Rooney is match-fit but let me sleep on it. I will decide tomorrow morning," said Eriksson. "Almost for sure (he is) not starting the match, I don't think he has 90 minutes in him yet."

*sigh*
So he' NOT match fit then is he Sven. Sleep on it all you like, you can't "decide" if he's match fit, he either is or he isn't. This on top of last weeks announcement that Rooney is "100% injury free". No he's NOT Sven, he's still recovering from a broken bone in his foot that only happened 6 weeks ago. Is he doing this to deliberately wind Fergie up ? Or does he just think we're all stupid ?

All the talk from Sven in the build-up to Paraguay was that Owen was fully fit and raring to go. So fit that he didn't even last an hour, as it turned out. Beckham was apparently fully fit in 2002 when the tournament started - what a crock of shit that turned out to be. I don't think I'd believe Sven if he told me what day it is, the delusional buffoon.

I hope he gets 20mins at the end of the game. I also hope we're winning 3 nil by the time he comes on.

If it's to wind up Fergie then it's good enough for me!

It doesn't take a rocket scientist for a manager to keep the opponents second guessing which team he will put out.

Why bother playing him? Only risks injury, if his fitness is good then surely he can come and make an impact later in the tournament when we really need him rather than risking him against T&T who with all due respect we should be able to beat without him.

The same can be said of Sweden, who didn't.

Put him on the bench, and only bring him on if things aren't working I say

All Sven's talk of Rooney is a smokescreen to distract the T&T management from the deployment of our secret weapon - Owen Hargreaves.

Easy, I have read your comments all subjects with interest over the past few years. Some I have agreed with, some I haven't. If I haven't agreed with you I have still respected the reasoned way you have made your points.

As far as Sven and England are concerned however, whether I agree with you or not, you are now becoming very, very boring. It seems that you don't believe him because you don't want to believe him. Not a good basis on which to judge objectively.

You must watch every match or press conference eagerly anticipating the chance to get on NSC and rant.

As I say - very, very boring. I'd hate to be sitting next to you!

It all keeps coming back to Rooney i.e the realisation that he makes the difference between winning the world Cup and not winning the World Cup. While not a OneManTeam scenario, it's a bit of a smack in the face to the rest of the squad that nobody's talking about anything else.

And risking Rooney against T&T is just plain :dunce:

Could t also be a case of mistranslation?

He means he is fit enough to start - thus being match fit but not to last the full 90.

Its an itch I have to scratch I'm afraid Knotty. Still, only another few weeks to put up with it and then I can finally change the record.

(I warn you now though - I'm not overly keen on McLaren)
