If you think the Quarter Finals is OK, then fine. And yes, we have been shite in this competition in the past, but that doesn't mean we should look at this years as being any kind of a success for England.

Just look at the manner of the defeat last night. We went out with a whimper. The England performance was appalling, and no amount of hand-wringing over refereeing decisions is going to change that. We scraped a draw - thats all. We were played off the park, but we SCRAPED a draw, and then did our usual party-piece in the pens, and now we're coming home.

I seem to remember two very good displays against the Croats and France! OK we we're crap last night but thats what happens when you get an early goal in a knock out stage of a cup, any national/club team falls into the "ok lets defend this lead" area which we know is dangerous.

IMO give Sven the WC qualifying and finals in Germany if we make it that far.

It's PROGRESS! We need to keep building on what we've got. Do you really think changing the manager will suddenly turn us into World Beaters? I'm 47, I'm guessing I'm a lot older than you, and compared to previous tournaments, yes, I'm ecstatic! Well, maybe not ecstatic but those statistics on the other page don't tell the whole story. I've sat through DECADES of dire England performances where I would have given my right arm to see a match like last night. Compared to previous tournaments England played with passion, verve, and skill.

Yet in a premiership game they would be pushing on for the second to kill the game, you dont see Manure, Arsenal or Chelsea doing that and thats where most of our players come from so you would think they know what they are doing.
