sven is now doing a press conference 12.57

General summary as at 1.00

Sven had a word with the ref.

He Will pick the same side again.

Becks will stay as Captain.

Sven made a complaint over the pens spots b4 the game to UEFA.

Sven felt he had the right tactics.

Rooney has a broken bone in his foot.

Becks "portugal kept the ball well, had a good game, good luck to them"

"We can be proud, proud to walk of the pitch last night, Ashley Cole performance on the night, didn't deserve to be on a losing Team"

"Didn't let the fans down"

"Fans were impeccable, fans deserve to be still here"

"I am England Captain I will not be resigning my position" Very stroppy at this point.

"You are always tired at the end of a season," he said.

"But in games like the Portugal quarter-final, fatigue doesn't come into it - momentum carries you along.

"Every time I get criticised, I'll come back fighting - that's me."

However, Beckham did admit that the 2006 World Cup might represent his last personal chance at international glory.

"It might be my last tournament, but we'll have to wait and see. If my legs are up to it, there might be another."

Did anyone ask if he's still going to be England's penalty taker?

I bloody hope he isn't

For his own good he should pass the penalty mantle to Owen

SVEN WAS ASKED THIS QUESTION, SVEN SAID HE HAD NO PROBLEM WITH BECKS, HE IMPLIED BECKS WOULD STILL BE THE FIRST PLAYER HE WOULD ASK.

WHY NOT USE LAMPARD? OR EVEN TERRY HIS PEN WAS A CLASSIC.

Sven should resign

why ?

I think he should have a pop at the FA and get the squad together more often, then create a proper 'team' in the build up to whipping the arse off the Germans in their own back yard in 2006 :clap2:

Excellent news. I shudder to think who the FA would offer it to - assuming we couldn't get Wenger.

It's not the FA that are to blame - it's the big clubs who won't make their players available any more than they already do. If Sven had his way then we'd be playing more friendlies with a proper team turning out for at least 3/4 of each game.

As usual, Sven said absolutely nothing of any interest whatsoever.

No mention of the fact that we seemed completely incapable of finding a white shirt with a pass all night.

No mention of the fact that we had no other ideas other than to sit back and defend defend defend once we got in front, against decent (but hardly world-beating) opposition.

No mention of the fact that Gerrard and Scholes looked completely knackered after half an hour.

Instead, all we got was Svens enigmatic little smile and a "well, errrrr, thats football". Well, errrr, Sven. You get three million quid a year to sort that shit out, and thats two tournaments in a row now where we have gone out after scoring first, then then laid down and just let the opposition walk all over us, to the extent that an equaliser is not just possible, its inevitable. Twice now.

Not. Good. Enough.

Agreed, I was hoping to hear more from Sven.

Not inspiring stuff, get rid.
We wont win f*** all with him in charge.

Bollocks Easy, we did ok. Just to refresh your memory in recent Euros:

2000 - 3rd in group - home before the postcards
1996 - Semi finals (at home, and after beating Spain on Penalties when they had a perfectly good goal ruled out for offside.)
1992 - Bottom of Group - home before the postcards
1988 - Bottom of Group - home before the postcards
1984 - Didn't even bloody qualify!
1980 - 3rd in Group - home before the postcards
1976 - Didn't even bloody qualify!

How can you complain about this year when you look at that catalog of failure?
