He was rooted to the spot for a free kick for the second time in two very important games. It was just lucky for us that it went wide this time because James was going nowhere. Give Robinson his chance.

Hmmm, I agree that James does not inspire confidence, certainly in the supporters, but a tad harsh to blame him for those goals. Granted on the free kick his positioning was not great, but surely at that stage in the game, it would have been better 2 have a player on each post.

The penalty, well sorry but Gerrard's back pass was the problem.

Yes, Gerrard put him in a very bad position but he's a goalkeeper and should have gone down at his feet with his hands, at least then he would have had a chance. If a goalkeeper goes flying in with a two footed tackle (which was completely mis-timed) then it's definately going to be a penalty.
Failing that Henry was headed well wide anyway and James probably could have just stood his ground and pushed him further wide and out of danger.
I know its easy to say as an armchair supporter after the fact but he's supposed to be our No.1 keeper and is paid thousands of pounds a week to read situations like that every day.

I get the impression that there is not that much confidence in Robinson from Sven, he has had opportunities to give the guy a run in the side, but does not. Yet whenever Kirkland is fit, even if he is number 2 at Liverpool, Sven has him in the squad.

My feeling is that he wanted Kirkland as number 1 for this tournament, but as he got injured again, they have gone with the more experienced James.

Its not a case of dropping him for one mistake. He's consistently shit.
When Seaman was at his peak you could trust him. If he came out to claim a corner or cross you had confidence in him to get it. You just can't trust James.

I am struggling to think of a game where he has really let England down to be honest and neither of the 2 alternatives inspire that much confidence. After all, both of them have been relegated with their clubs this season.

Do you have any specific examples of him being consistently shit as you put it? As far as my memory goes he has not made any significant errors for England, in fact I having seen him gifting goals in a Man City shirt either this season.

Whilst not being the best keeper in the tournament, he is the best that England have, he is solid and he has been reliable

It seems you are basing your opinion on his form for Liverpool 5 years ago.

i dont have a full confidence in him but he is the best we have. he needs to assert a little less if that makes any sense. he comes out for all the crosses etc when he dosent need to. hes a very good shot stopper and he should not be dropped. ifn kirkland was in the squad then i would feel differently because he is class but hes not so...

Robert Green is the Norwich lad that was in a couple of squads.

The Baggies keeper is Russell Holt. He was talked about, but I guess if you play for a shite team you are going to be a busier keeper, so make more saves.

No, I'm basing it on the fact that he flaps at crosses. I'll agree that he's a good shot stopper but his display against France showed that his judgement is suspect to say the least. There must be a better all round keeper out there (don't know where though.
