SusSEX v MiddleSEX: Pro40, Hove, Tonight

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
We'll be lucky if it is on  Which means we will have to win the final game well, I think, to catch up on net run rate.

I hope they are keeping an eye on the wine cellar before he leaves.

The forecast isn't looking too bad, Met Office and BBc seem to think they'll be rain at lunchtime and it will clear up for the evening

The team
Sussex: Prior, Yardy, Wright, Goodwin, Adams, Smith, Hopkinson, Hamilton-Brown, Martin-Jenkins, Sami, Kirtley.

Do we need Kirtley? if we had Nash in instead, we'd still have RMJ,Sami, Wright, R H-B, Yardy, Smith and Nash that could bowl

Stopped raining here in central Brighton, however it looks cold and grey outside may have to take a blanket along tonight, the Lancashire game was freezin.

Shame about Nash thought he was man of the match last time out. Still lets hope Wright and Sami blast them away.

Just had a look at the table and Hampshire now have the best net run rate.
Forecast for sunday at Trent Bridge isn`t great so a washout could hand the title to the scummers by default.

If we win today, we only need a washout on Sunday to win the title as that would give us 11 points to Hampshire's 10.

I have never understood the whole run rate thing. We have only lost one and won three yet have a minus run rate. How is it worked out?

It must be down to the disater that was away to hampshire and not batting out our 40 overs.

Looks like the formula that is creating those black holes

[edit] Step by step explanation
A team's run rate (RR) is their total number of runs divided by overs faced. As an over is made up of six balls, each ball counts for 1/6 of an over for the purposes of calculating the net run rate, despite being normally written in cricket's notation as .1 of an over.

So if a team scores 250 runs off 50 overs then their runrate is . If they got that same score off 47.5 overs, their RR would be

The concept of net run rate involves taking the opponents' final run rate away from the team's run rate. The only complication is that if a team is bowled out, it is not the balls faced which their score is divided by; instead the full fifty over quota is used.
