SUSSEX COUNTY FA SENIOR CUP FINAL AT AMEX STADIUM
The Sussex County Football Association are delighted that agreement has been reached with Brighton & Hove
Albion FC for the playing of the Sussex Senior Cup Final as an historic first competitive match at the Club’s new
facility, the Amex Stadium, at Falmer. It will be played on Saturday 16th July with the kick-off at 3.00 pm. The Club
must host a first match with attendance as near as possible to the 10,000 maximum, before subsequently meeting
further higher requirements necessary for Stadium certification. The cost of staging such a match will mean a huge
outlay by the Club, which will necessitate a change for the Association’s financial arrangements for the Final.
In order to stage the Senior Cup Final at that time of the year, the SCFA needed to obtain acceptance by the Senior
Clubs to move away from the normal arrangements. Peter Bentley, the Chairman of the Association, Eddie Potter
the Chairman of the Association’s Competitions Committee, and the SCFA Chief Executive, Ken Benham recently held
a meeting with the County’s higher Senior Clubs. In addition to Brighton & Hove Albion the other Clubs participate in
either the Football Conference or the Isthmian League. At the meeting the Clubs unanimously approved this
principle. On Monday 24th January, the matter was then discussed at a meeting of the SCFA Board, supplemented by
Mr Potter, and attended by Martin Perry from Brighton and Hove Albion. Both organisations openly exchanged
views on many points of mutual interest, and Mr Perry has subsequently confirmed the agreement of the Club’s
Board to various points raised by the Association.
Mr Bentley states that the SCFA Board have maintained their wish to stage the event, and are equally pleased that
their initial concerns have now been fully satisfied by the explanations and answers received. They have also been
able to achieve the safeguarding of the requirements of the Competitions Committee of the Association, and look
forward to the success of this historic occasion, highlighting this as an example of the co-operation that exists
between the SCFA and the Senior Clubs in the county for the benefit of football.
Mr Potter is delighted that the Board of the SCFA have been able to reach agreement with Brighton & Hove Albion.
He is also mindful of the unanimous wish of his Committee to support the proposal. He is also pleased to announce
that in spite of the prestigious nature of the event, the cost of entrance to the match will remain at the level of last
season’s Cup Final at Eastbourne Borough. He considers that it will provide an occasion for players to play in front of
a crowd much larger than that they normally experience, and will offer those attending this unique opportunity.
Both the Club and the County Association intend that opportunity should be given to members of all the Clubs
affiliated to the County Association to attend this historic event. Priority will be given to those requests for tickets
that will be organised through the County FA to the Club’s Ticketing System. In a few weeks time, when the
competition has progressed to the latter stages, Clubs will receive detailed notification from the SCFA of how tickets
can be purchased. When circulated, it will be essential that Clubs make their response as quickly as possible in order
to maximise this opportunity and to avoid disappointment, especially to youngsters. Any shortfall of the number will
then enable Brighton & Hove Albion to arrange sale of those remaining tickets. It will not be possible to purchase
tickets at the ground on the day of the match.
The staff at the County FA Headquarters, led by Mr Benham, will be involved in the administration required by the
SCFA in the ticketing process for the Club, as well as other matters appropriate to the Cup Final. Mr Benham states
that while it will be a daunting task, in addition to the continuation of their normal duties, and with some detailed
matters to be finalised, it is also a challenge that he considers they will all approach with their renowned
professional pride on behalf of the footballing fraternity within the county.

ALBION ANNOUNCE DETAILS OF FIRST RAMP UP EVENT – 16TH JULY 2011
The 2011 Sussex Senior Cup Final will be the first match played at Brighton & Hove Albion's American Express
Community Stadium - after member clubs voted unanimously in favour of the Sussex County FA's flagship final
being played at the new stadium.
The final, to be played on Saturday 16th July kick–off at 3pm, will be the first game of the Albion's ramp-up
programme this summer - required to gain a safety certificate ahead of the 2011/12 season. In line with the safety
assessment criteria, the capacity will be limited to 10,000.
The Sussex County FA will receive an allocation of tickets for their members, in line with the competition's rules.
Albion will put the remaining tickets on sale giving Amex 1901 Club members and season ticket holders priority for
the first competitive fixture at the club's new home.
Albion chief executive Martin Perry said, "I am delighted the Sussex County FA and its member clubs have seen the
enormous benefit of the final being the first historic fixture at the Amex. For the teams still in the competition it is
sure to provide an extra incentive to reach the final. For the Albion, it gives us an ideal ramp-up event - ahead of our
own flagship friendly, which will be the official opening, and that long-awaited first league game next August."
Sussex County FA chairman Peter Bentley added, "We are delighted to be invited to the Amex to play the final on
what will be an historic occasion. This demonstrates the co-operation that exists between the SCFA and the senior
clubs in the county for the benefit of football and its fans. It will provide a great occasion for the players and fans of
the clubs who reach the final, and give those teams the opportunity to play in front of such a large crowd in such a
wonderful stadium."
Full ticketing details will be announced at a later date.
