Nearly forgot...good shout.

Singing hills is fantastic value for twilight, a real gem of a course and for £12 at weekend twilight, its great. Challenging but you wont get a better course in sussex for the money.

The fact its 3pm aswell or 2pm on a saturday makes it even more appealing. You will of course definately both need your golf shoes etc, whereas at places like Waterhall and Benfield you get away without. It is challenging as byf says, but for £12 you must give it a shot while the twighlight fee's are about.
I need to get out and have a round soon, then i can get back up there when i've sorted my game out a bit. Has anyone been up to Hollingbury or Waterhall later on in the evening? Only want to play 3 or 4 holes a couple of evenings without paying £10 to see how i play.

Buxted Harbour
Wellshurst just outside Horam is good value.

Sweetwoods (near East Grinstead) USED to be IMO the best value golf in Sussex but he recently done allot of work on both the course and the club house and needs to pay for it, so it's quite dear now. Plus the fella that owns it is one of the chaps who have recently bought Palarse.

Seaford Head is an interesting course but as others have mentioned be prepared for a hike!

Tilgate Forest (Crawley) is pretty good for a council owned course. Just keep an eye on your clubs especially during the school holidays.

Not played it myself but the old man raves about Chartham Park (East Grinstead).

Anyone played Lingfield Park?

What's it like?

Playing there Sunday.

Cottersmore, the old course (Griffin)
expensive at £30 for weekdays and £36 at weekends, only played it once but possibly the best course in Sussex, at least the ones i've played.

I love singing hills - it is challenging to play, very scenic to walk aorund, and because it has 3 9s, you can get a lot of variety. If I was looking to join a club, it is definitely one I would consider, along with Mid-Sussex.

Yep agree 100%. Ive been playing about 7 months and on a good day I get by quite well but if your eyes not in it will punish you which I like.

If I stay in the UK, i'd consider getting membership there.

The other option is Hillbarn for membership, but the main reason why id choose it is its 5 min drive for me, but still a nice course to play.

I like Hill Barn as the fairways are very wide. Needs to be a nice day though for me being a fair weather golfer.

It's not bad at all. A little tricky for a beginner, I think, as your ball is rarely on level ground anywhere. A bit tough on the legs climbing up to the 15th towards the end of your round if you're not used to it. Definitely a course to try though.

Glad you don't. And a good job I've not mentioned my hole-in-one at Singing Hills either. We don't want any bragging on this site, now, do we.
