Sussex exiles.Just how much?

Skintagain 1983

And Smith Did Score!
I left Lewes in 1983 .. Cup final.. Gordon Smith.. Fixtures .. Ringtone.. Snow?... and found myself in Dundee.. and 13 moves around East and Central Scotland later I am in a small village in Clackmannanshire.

The most missed thing is the sound of the waves on the pebbles at Brighton/Newhaven/Eastbourne...

When I can't sleep I oten imagine the sounds to relax me.. It's a grwat relaxation technique, along with the experience of a light wind blowing across the wheatfields on the Downs.

I recently landed at Gatwick going to a meeting in Londinium and couldn't help myself from telling the taxi driver about the feeling of being back on "Sussex soil".

And travelling past Smellhurst on the train......

   :nono:   :nono: :shootself :lolol:

Many of my relatives stiil live in Lewes, Seaford, Shoreham .. and I I suppose me and 'Er Indoors should really make the effort to visit Englandshire a little more often.

Can't wait to get a season ticket for Falmer... :clap2:

Skintagain, you may not have the South Downs but you do have the Ochils, not a bad substitute, likewise I have to make do with the Malverns and Cleeve Hills, a reasonable second to the Downs.

Last Monday was the first time I had seen the South Downs in over 2 years, I have to admit having a lump in my throat heading south on the A23 as they came into view, it was a bit like meeting up with old friends again.

There you go, I used to travel between Edinburgh and Glasgow from time to time and up to the Stirling area and beyond because of my work, granted some of the towns aren't that inspiring but the countryside around is stunning.

i lived in portsmouth for 15 years, and while its not a million miles away when i eventually moved back to newhaven i felt as if i'd returned home. strange feeling that you cant really put your finger on. i know you can 'never say never' but i truly hope that i never have to leave this part of the world again
