Who is your player of the Season for Sussex during this seasons FOUR DAY campaign? (Minimum requirement of 5 matches to have been played)...

Poll to follow...

I voted for Tucker. I know he's not there now but he was a complete star in the first half of the season

Although there are 17 options I think it can be narrowed down to pretty much 5:

Collymore: Leading wicket taker with a nack for giving away very few runs.
Goodwin: Top run scorer and Mr Dependable.
Martin-Jenkins: Probably would have walked this if he hadn't retired halfway through the season.
Nash: Second highest run scorer and has been in cracking form towards the end of the season.
Panesar: Really came good towards the back end of the season after a bit of a patchy start.

I think you could add Yasir to that. Only four players have higher batting averages and he took a fair chunk of wickets - if he'd played a full season, he'd probably have done more 60.

RMJ, a complete contribution towards the team and he only played 9 games! On a side note I'm really disappointed that Gatting has chosen to play Foolsball this winter rather than migrating south and improving his game!

RMJ who was superb at the beginning of the season, he'll be greatly missed.
Then Collymoore followed by Nash, Goodwin and Panesar. It's been a really good team effort, everyone's contributed (apart the billy big balls England trio)

Bit harsh that. You could see the difference in one-day performance when Yardy came back and Prior got some really useful runs too.

None of them did well in the CC though - something which should concern Wright if he has dreams of a test place. I think he's fallen too far behind myself - and could well lose his one-day place too.

Can I just say the 18 centuries from 10 centurions is a phenomenal return? May well be a record on both counts. Either that, or it's an indication of just how SHIT Division II is.

And there's still a game to go.

good achievement yes, but id take it with a pinch of salt. would we have got anywhere NEAR that amount in division one, bearing in mind the batting line-up is virtually unchanged from last season?

definitely an indication of how shit division two is

RMJ just pips Collymore by the smallest of margins, I do not seem to remember his name on the board.

I heard someone today in the pavilion say Corey has been offered a two year deal by Middlesex but we have only offered him a one year deal, hope he stays with us.

Stan for me, has bowled his nuts off this year with very little luck.
Am willing to bet he has had more catches dropped off him than anyone else and beats the bat on so many occasions without getting an edge cos he is bowling too well.
He would run through a brick wall for Sussex, a real gem of an overseas player not like some of the mercanaries that turn out in CC.
Rana started well the first 3 games then started to tail off and Yas has only hit the straps this last four weeks IMHO, all the while Corey has been carrying the attack.
Only one choice for me, although Tucker, Monty and Nasher have been superb also.
