I believe Yorkshire confirming 2nd place in the table over Middlesex makes them the only northern team to finish top 2 in any major competition this season

That's right. Level on points with the Yorkie Puds would deservedly see us as Champions. Inevitable draw (earliest possible finish) and a few extra BPs will widen the margin...
