not a billionaire or a wizard...?
Quite right. It should never be expected that a chairman should pump money into a club, unless of course he is the owner with a vested interest in making a return on the investment. Chairman’s role is to form and run an effective Board.

11/1 Burns c Simpson b Hunt 2.

Keeping it reasonably tight, only a straight drive up the hill by Sibley has reached the boundary. Simpson keeping and skippering, Carter down to bat at 4.

8.0
In his next over Hunt found the edge of Sibley's bat - didn't see through the forest of legs in the cordon whether it was a chance or dropped just short. Over ended up going for 10.

8.4
25-2 - Sibley 20 c FHP b Karvelas - sharp catch at midwicket. Jamie Smith then times the pants off his first delivery, up the hill for 4.

10.3
42-3 Patel c Carter b Crocombe 8. Mistimed hoik high to square leg running in from the boundary. Swirling and took some holding onto. Previous ball had been dispatched.

110/4
Clark 29(54) c Simpson b FHP

In the previous over Jamie Smith brought up his 50 from 39 balls.

Crocombe - no consistency/plan; at least one boundary ball per over
Hunt - some control, got the early wicket. Has come back on with Smith in full swing
Karvelas - coming down the slope managed to get a bit of lift,
Lamb - looks a threat, if a bit expensive - again came on wilth Smith on the charge.. A couple of clicks quicker than expected, will get some joy against div 2 batters
FHP - does what he does - fairly consistent medium pacers with a bit of wobble and a handy knack of picking up set batsmen.

26.1
110/5

Smith 51 (44)c Clark b Hunt. Mistimed swipe across the line spooned high to the slipper running round to point. Looked well set and keen to get on with it. 9 4s & a 6 in a breezy knock

4.3
15/1 Haines c Lawes b Worral 6. Sharply taken high at a close-ish mid-wicket. Had edged through the slips at an eminently catchable height for 4 a couple of balls previously.

42/1
Clark 28(55)*
Alsop 6(27)*

25 overs left in the day - won't get them all in, it's getting a tad gloomy.

Now Brixton
Went down yesterday. Very early days but some promising signs. Hunt looks decent and am always a fan of a left armer in any team. Crocombe still looks wild though. Lamb I think will turn out to be a great signing - the sort of all rounder we should have been signing for years. FHP very useful too

That link includes the line "Greigs Care, located by the main entrance will be serving breakfast from 930am" I'm assuming they mean cafe but given the age of most of the members, maybe not.

anyone know if Archer is likely to play any 4 day cricket
I think Robinson will play a part this season, he recently said that he needs to start playing cricket again after missing so much last year (due to injuries and personal problems). I’m not so sure about Archer though, although I believe he’s fit to play again.
