[Cricket] Sussex CCC - 2024 edition

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
I see that Sussex won the toss and decided not to bat (again).

They were all contracted til the end of 2026 anyway, so it’s an unexpected development.
Great they are staying a year on top of that though.

Not really relevant, but I just saw two young children in their Warwickshire / Birmingham shirts playing cricket outside the Tesco opposite Cardiff Central station while their dad was inside buying something. Which was all very lovely and heartwarming

I'd like to think this says something about young children being enthusiastic about cricket and County cricket and all that, but I think it probably says more about their dad's organisational skills - their semi final started the best part of an hour ago. :lolol:

Could just be on their way back from holiday. I remember the 1973 Gillette Cup Final, when we were plays Gloucs. We were driving back to Sussex and, because we had no car radio, we stopped off a few times on the way back so we could have a look at TV shops to catch the score. Sometimes, things just don't work out perfectly.

Two young children in Warwickshire shirts and with a bat and ball, with two men one of whom was wearing a floppy hat with a load of cricket logos on it. No visible luggage or anything to suggest a longer trip.

I accept there's a chance they're coincidentally on a day trip to Cardiff the same day as their team is playing a match here, but if anything that would cause me to question their Dad's organisational skills even more.

You mean they weren't wearing West Midlands Mini Cheddars shirts (or whatever)? I thought that's what all the kids liked.
