Excellent signing of experienced pro from Middlesex announced today.

(Farbrace is a top Head Coach and was a brilliant appointment by the current club management.)

If they are looking to build a team to get out of Division 2 then he is a worthy addition. Good one day player too.

Obviously Sussex can't tempt players in their prime, so he fits the youth v experience thingy.

This looked interesting, but why do they have all the events on a weekday at lunch or in the afternoon? I might have gone to some of these otherwise, but can’t really justify taking half a day for them. So everyone attending, a bit like for the 4 day games, will be of a certain age and no longer needing employment….

Seeing as their time won't overlap, presumably we'll be looking for an overseas batter too.

Shame is that. But Sussex are one of the have nots now and folk just have to live with that, alas.

The most important thing at the moment is that they are solvent and in the black. I'm not confident for all the counties in the next decade or so. If they survive it will be on the terms of the 'haves'

Breaks my heart to see what has happened to the game in the last 20 years.

Heard this is partly down to a fall out with Farbrace.

I'm gutted about this. We keep moving in the right direction and then taking a step or two back. We were/aren't that far off being a good side.

That is shocking. One of our few multi-format players and he has a lot of talent.

This quote is a bit odd "Orr had one year remaining on his contract and was seeking to renegotiate the terms with the Club, however with this not possible, he signalled his intentions to move elsewhere."

Sounds like there may be more to this but we should have made him see out the last year of his contract.
